Localizer is way off on the Dynon HDX HSI from SL30 Signal

This is super helpful. I flew an ILS for the first time after installing HDX in a Mooney and could not get the HSI to properly show the localizer. My NAV is a SL 30, which I lover. ATC must have been having fun watching me cuz I was all over the place but it was VFR so no harm done. I also...

    Mooney Autopilot installed

Here's my panel with the AP installed. Follow the instructions and all went as advertised. Do not install a switch to turn off the yaw damper, however, that does cause issues. PM me with questions about the installation. The AP really is rock solid, flying a flight plan and an approach is...

Can't get auto trim to work ...

I believe all trim servos have a clutch, otherwise the trim wheel would be more difficult to rotate. I'm only familiar with the Century trim servo which can function in two ways: 1- the clutch is engaged by a separate function of the trim switch (for Centry, you push down on the switch to...

    Mooney Autopilot installed

Pictures of the pitch and yaw servo installation would be appreciated. The roll servo looks fairly straight forward since it goes in the same location as the Century servo (even the rivet holes are exactly the same.

    Dynon Quick Tips on Youtube

If Dynon is listening - the Quick Tips posted to YouTube are GREAT. Please do more. I would especially like to see screen shots of an ILS and LPV approach.

    Flight Director with no AP

How do you get the flight director bars for VNAV with no autopilot installed?

Yoke Mounted Autopilot Disconnect Switch Setups

What's wrong with the panel mounted AP disconnect switch from Dynon? Might save a lot of trouble and you have plenty of panel space.

    New D30

I forgot to mention, for sure I will be up-grading to the D30.

    New D30

Hi aggiepack, Of course I don't. I'm just trying to poke Dynon to up their game. I'm fully invested in Dynon (and very happy with HDX) and would like to see them improve their gear as much as possible. It's just that being invested in the Dynon systems does not mean we should settle for...

    New D30

I think we need to give Dynon some credit for coming up with a replacement for the D10 even if it does not have all the UAv features. I find the D10 to be underwhelming, particularly the screen quality, and I don't spend too much time dealing with it. The D30 might be something I look at more...

    Chart upgrade

Yes, let's get a review of Airmate - Seattle Avionics is driving me nuts. It takes FOR EVER to download VFR, IFR low and high charts for only 7 states. Garmin, by comparison, is less than one minute for the 175 GPS navigator. I may be doing something wrong with the Seattle Avionics file...

    uAvionix AV-30-C to replace D10A?

That makes sense from Dynon's perspective and I don't think the AV-30 existed when the STC was developed. The 337 might be something to look into - I'll ask the avionics guys I use. With all the panel space that HDX saves, there is room to add an AV-30 and leave the D10A where it is.

    uAvionix AV-30-C to replace D10A?

Does anyone know if the AV-30-C could legally replace the D10A as a standby flight display in a certified airplane? The AV-30-C itself is certified as a primary flight display and the information presented on the AH page of the AV-30-C is the same as the D10A. Love HDX, not so much the D10A -...

    Glidepath Pointer/Needle/Indicator

It was much too concerning the first time I wanted to practice an ILS and the GS did not come in. Plus, it's so small it gives you the feeling it's not significant (I know, it's psychological) . I'm going to see about putting the CDI put back in - plenty of panel space now and I have not sold...

    Mooney autopilot

I never even thought about a vertical mount (my creativity IQ is not a strength). Gonna measure tomorrow so see it would fit. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Mooney autopilot

Short bodies are lucky, your panel configuration allows for (easier) dual 10" install. On the K model the angled breaker panel has to be modified to allow space for the second 10" - it can be done but a lot of work...maybe when I retire. The Dynon gallery has good pictures of Mooney installs...

    Mooney autopilot

Pitch went to the back, where my old Century trim servo was. Roll went to the left wing. This was done in consultation with Dynon so not sure why you did not get an answer to your question - perhaps they are now not sure if it will be left or right wing. FYI, my Century AP had the roll servo...

    Mooney autopilot

I have a mid-body M20-K and Dynon HDX is already installed along with all the wiring for the AP and the hole in the panel where the module will go. HDX is great and the difference between glass and steam is amazing. The weather data lone is worth the price but there's so much more to...

    USB size?

Sorry for the late reply. I purchased one Lexar 32GM, USB 3.1 and one PNY 64GM, USB 3.1 and both work fine. Both are very small, like in the picture Eugr posted. Who would have thought that an the older technology USB would work better...
