    Autopilot Not Always Recognized

Sometimes when I turn on my master switch, the autopilot mode on my D-180 shows as "AP: ERR-ERR."  I can recycle the D-180 and then they will come up as "AP: OFF-OFF" and everything will be fine for the rest of the flight.  The other day I did not notice the "AP: ERR-ERR" until I was flying and...

    Interesting NAV Source Lost Event

No, I do not have an AP74, just one D180 and the pitch and roll servos. Dave G

    Interesting NAV Source Lost Event

I recently got my airplane flying again after being down for 6 months installing structural "upgrades" (601XL).  I installed 5.3 software into my D180 with roll and pitch servos.  I had experienced the "NAV source lost" occurences last year without any fanfare as I would just reset back to NAV...

Kudos to Dynon EMS Data Logging

I know this is a support forum, but I just had to throw out this note of appreciation to the Dynon data logging system.  I have never had an issue with downloading data from my D-180.  I now know two people with Brand X and Y EFIS/EMS units who lost critical first flight data because, for some...

    Servo Too Weak?

Alex, To answer your question, the next stronger servo, an SV42, did resolve my problem. Good luck on your system, Dave G.

OAT probe for measuring inside cowling temperature

Re: OAT probe for measuring inside cowling tempera Remember, you can use one of the GP circuits and a Chromel/Alumel thermocouple wire twisted together and get the same thing. DaveG

    D180 EMS Data Log Format

When I upgraded my D180 to 5.0 software, I noticed one change to the new data log format that could have been done different.  I have a Jabiru 330 engine and use CHT1 through CHT6.  Instead of all the CHT columns lining up nicely next to each other in the data log, there is now a column titled...

    Power On Failure Problem

[edit by dynonsupport] Dave - I accidentally mangled your post while trying to quote you. Sorry about that.

    Lower Range Fuel Pressure Transducer

I am currently using a Dynon D180 with a Jabiru 3300 powered Zodiac 601XL.  The nominal operating fuel pressure is in the range of 1.5 to 2.0 PSI.   The 30 PSI transducer supplied for carbuerated engines is at it's very low end in my application.  I get a fair amount of "low fuel pressure"...

    AP losing NAV source

Same here. It goes to TRK mode and I must manually re-select NAV. DaveG D180/296

    AP losing NAV source

Now that I have my 296 outputting the right data stream, I too see the 'nav source lost' message come up about once every 10 or so minutes.  Problem is, that without an AP74, I have a few extra buttons to hit to get back on NAV.   Hope you can get something figured out. Thanks, DaveG...

    GPS to Autopliot Communications

DUH! Forgot about Garmin's sub-menu to the sub-menu.  I had set all this up a long time a go and it worked fine.  When I went to this Garmin menu again after the AP setup to make sure I had the right communications protocol, I must have done something that made the advanced communication default...

    GPS to Autopliot Communications

Prior to installing the Dynon AP and latest software, my Garmin 296 and D-180 communicated nicely.  All HSI data showed up including CRS and TRK.  Recently, all I did was add the Dynon 5.0 S/W and roll axis AP.  Now the HSI says my CRS is always 360 degrees regardless of where my active GPS...

    Servo Too Weak?

I am installing a roll servo into my Zenith 601XL.  Per the application guide an SV32 servo was recommended.  I have installed, config'd and calibrated the new software and servo.  I initially mounted the rod end on the outermost servo arm location.  When I perfomed the servo test, the servo...

    EMS Datalog Problem

I checked my logging settings and logging was set to "on" and record at boot was also "on."   I went for a short flight and then downloaded the data log afterwards.  Todays flight as well as the previous days flights that were absent from the data log mysteriously re-appeared.  The datalog is...

    EMS Datalog Problem

It had been set that way since day-one but let me check it out tonight when I get to the hanger. I want to make sure I did not inadventently turn that feature off when I changed my scan rate. I was making changes in the same screen on the fly. Thanks, Dave

    EMS Datalog Problem

I flew for about 1/2 hour yesterday and downloaded my EMS datalog afterwards for later analysis.  When I open the file up today I expected to see yesterdays flight as well as a few hours of previous flight data in the usual 1700 lines or so of data.  Much to my suprise, there was only about 200...

    Strange Occurance During Trim Installation

Ken, I had the needle type indicators. Per Ray Allen, they see up to 6 VDC. This 6 volts is what tripped up the D180. I have since removed the connection between the two. Thanks, Dave
