    Fuel calibration

I was afraid of that. Oh well. I will wait until I use up most of the fuel in that tank. First flight will be in April. Carl

    Fuel calibration

When calibrating my fuel tank (inserting 2 gallons fuel at a time) I made a mistake. I depressed the button to record the latest 2 gal of fuel two times for one insertion of fuel. This means two of the steps have the same data entered. My question is, is it possible to change the incorrect...

    ammeter shunt/fusable links

I took some 22g wire and removed some of the strands. I don't remember just how many. One of my friends calculated how much to remove. I think it as several strands at least. Carl

    EGT #1, shows -99 deg.

Actually, it was not DOA. It worked fine for 1st and 2nd engine start. It went bonkers on taxi test. Carl

    EGT #1, shows -99 deg.

One simple test you can do in your case is continuity- -99 almost always means an open probe, so you can just use an ohmmeter to read the thermocouple. It should be 0 ohms, but I bet yours is open. I did use the OHM meter to measure continuity between the red and yellow wires on the probe and...

    EGT #1, shows -99 deg.

I did switch connections between probes as stated above. I left the problem probe in the #1 exhaust and switched the connections so the # 1 probe would be on the #3 circuit. The problem moved to the #3 circuit so, the #1 probe has been isolatred as the problem. Should the probe be replaced or...

    EGT #1, shows -99 deg.

EGT #1, shows -99 deg. with the engine off (reading ambient air temperature). The rest of them read the ambient temperature correctly at 56 degrees, after second engine start & taxi run. It worked OK before, during and after the first engine start. I switched #1 probe wires to #3 at the harness...

    I have several issues

Maybe we can take care of them on one post. 1. After initial run-up and a taxi test, my cylinder 1 CHT reads 99 deg. with the engine not running, as opposed to the others at a 66 degree ambiant temperature. Did taxi test cause a CHT probe to destruct? The engine sounded fine. 2. Oil...

    Amps reading

The good news is I had the incorrect sensor "2" programmed :-/. So it was an easy fix. The bad news is, I was so sure I had the correct "1" sensor programmed, that I removed the 37 pin D-Sub and checked continuity first :'(. I think it was like a computer and my original selection did not get...

    Amps reading

The shunt is connected to the copper strap between the master relay and the starter relay. The other end has a cable (#8) attached that goes to the bus bar. Carl

    Amps reading

Hi, Just installed EMS and my amps read -99 (thats is negative 99 amps), even with the engine not running. Obviously I did something wrong. NEED HELP! Voltage seems fine. Carl Nank

    D10A EDC Programming

Need help. I have been trying to download the EDC program to my computer. I tried to an XP and a Vista computer, but no joy. I have up-loaded the firmware into the EFIS, EDC and HS-34.

    Programming the system

I have the Dynon D100, D10 and HS34. I see there are 3 PC connections, one for each instrument. I am near the programming time and have read the instructions. If I read the instructions properly, I am to hook up the PC to the EFIS. My questions are, am I correct to hook the PC to the EFIS...

    Capacitance Fuel Level Sender

I have the Dynon Capacitance senders installed. I am installing the wireing and I am not sure how to wire the red power wires. The instructions suggest I wire to pin 15 on EMSDB37, but it is wired to the fuel flow. The instructions say I can wire directly to standard 12 V aircraft power. Does...

    HS34 Installation bracket broken

I was turning the screw into the HS34 install bracket and the circular nut that is swaged onto the bracket broke off of the bracket. Has this been a problem? I am thinking of installing a platenut on the bracket. That should eleminate any future problems. What say you? Carl Nank

    Manifold pressure sensor

I found some tube reducers at Mcmaster Carr web site. Here are part numbers in case anyone else is looking for them. Reducing Tee 5117K26 Reducing coupling 5117K55 You will get several in a pkg but not that expensive. Around $10.00 Carl Nank

    Manifold pressure sensor

In order to step up the MP hose size from 1/8" to 1/4" I will need about three sizes of hose. This seems very cumbersome. I stopped at Ace Hardware (airplane department) and found hoses but could not find hose barbs that convert to these step up sizes. Where have others found these...

    Circuit breakers

Hi Mel, Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate your guy's help. What you said makes sense. I beleive what you are saying, is to use two circuit breakers, per the manual, one for each Dynon, and physically attached to the buss bar so when the master switch is turned on, both Dynon's come...

    Circuit breakers

Thank you for your replies. Just to clarify, my mistake is use of too high amps for wire size. (2A and 3A wires does not mean you can add this together and put in a 5A CB. I appreciate you straightening me out. I would like to use the instrument SCB to turn on both Dynons. This seems to not be...

    Circuit breakers

I have a D100 & D10. One wants a 3A CB & the other a 2A CB. I have an (Instrument) SCB on my RV7A panel and I want to know if it is kosher to use that SCB for both dynons. I was thinking 5A, (2A plus 3A). Right now my avionics panel has only Dynon. Nav Comm is on its own SCB.
