    D-180 Inaccurate Capacitive Fuel Levels

Hello: I've been flying with this issue since my first flight in 2012 and I was wondering if there has been any resolution to this. I have calibrated several times and each time I get the "there was no change in the voltage reading" warning. This is due to the very small change the Dynon sees...

Dynon Intercom Jack Wiring Help Needed

Hi. I'm in the midst of replacing my old DRE intercom with a Dynon intercom. The intercom is being installed as a stand alone unit without a Skyview. I've been scratching my head trying to figure out the proper way to install the headphone and mic jacks and I think I had an "aha" moment...

    TAS Now Reading WAY Low

Well, I finally got around to working on the plane last weekend. I started with the easiest pitot connection to get to (in the wing) checked for the security of the lines, and this is what I found: Yep, that was the problem. I'm not sure how it pulled out from the back of the connector...

    TAS Now Reading WAY Low

I've been flying my D-180 for about 3 years now with no issues...or so I thought. About a year ago, I noticed that my TAS was indicating about 4-5 mph slower than what was "normal" in my airplane. I didn't worry about it too much but I always wondered why this happened. Fast forward to...

Dynon to control pitch, Trio to control roll

My thinking behind this was to have the ability to completly remove power from the entire AP system if needed. I can do that with the Trio by simply turning it off. If I tapped into the Trio power, then I would be able to remove power from both APs with a single switch. I could easily put in...

Dynon to control pitch, Trio to control roll

First of all, I’m flying an RV-9A, VFR only airplane. My autopilot installation is there simply to make long cross countries more pleasurable. I don’t need my AP system to fly a precise IFR approach. I am adding a Dynon pitch servo, controlled by a D180, to my airplane which already has a Trio...

    Fuel calibration trouble D180

I calibrated my capacitance fuel gauges before my first flight a few weeks ago. I also set up my fuel computer at the last fill up. Today, I wanted to see if can hang my hat on either one of these readings and it turns out that I can't. I disconnected at the carb and ran each tank dry in a...

    Dynon heading is not accurate.

I found that the compass swings 30+ degrees between canopy open and canopy closed. Time to recal with the canopy closed! Thanks

    Dynon heading is not accurate.

I've had my Dynon for quite a while but my first flight wasn't until Memorial Day of this year. I'm seeing a very odd problem. Look at these pictures: I was flying directly toward the waypoint in both pictures. The Dynon is showing CRS, TRK, and GPS all essentially the same. The thing is...

    D180 backup battery problems

I have the version just prior to the latest one available. I think it is 5.0.

    D180 backup battery problems

I have a D180 in my project that I've had in the panel getting close to a year but it hasn't flown yet since the plane's not completed yet. Everything seemed to work fine with the unit on ships power vs. back up battery until.... Recently, I pulled out the Odyssey battery from the airplane and...

    Yes, for the tach. Thanks!

Radio Shack resistors for the P-Lead Pickoff

I'm unable to locate the resistors that came with my D-180 but the instructions say that they are 30k Ohm. Radio Shack carries only 33K ohm 1/2W resistors (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062332). Would these suffice?

    Erratic flap position readings

I found the problem. It was a bad ground...a ground that had previously checked out good. The bad ground has since been scolded. :-[ Thanks

    Erratic flap position readings

I have the D180 and just hooked up my Ray Allen position sensor to GP3. Even though I don't have the wings attached yet, I wanted to do a rough calibration just to check things out. When I started the cal, I noticed the default indication to be 500, I then followed the cal instructions, moved...

Running power wires along with Dynon sensor wires.

Hi: I have a Dynon D-180 and am presently running wires through the firewall. It seems the norm to have two holes in the firewall for passing wires through the firewall. One hole is for the thermocouple and sensor wires while the other one is for the stay alive power as well as BUS power (with...

    Two axes, two autopilots?

Ah yes, the disconnect. I would think that I could put both the Trio and the Dynon disconnect on the same button. I assume the Dynon disconnects by momentarily grounding the wire right? Is there an on-line AP manual available yet for the AP function?

    Two axes, two autopilots?

The news of the Dynon AP came out after I installed my Trio single axis AP. I'm thinking of adding altitude hold via my Dynon D-180. Is this something that is OK to do...have one axis controlled by one AP and the other by the Dynon? Also, would it be as simple as adding a servo and upgrading...
