Even if the current capabilities of skyview are already way above the average pilot needs, I still have some suggestions for the next releases:
- moving map flight plan synchronisation from GNS/GTN (I understand that it will be part of next release)
with MAPCOM or MAPMX or ARINC protocol decoding.
MAPCOM having the advantage to also enable compatibility with non certified GPS but MAPMX and ARINC enable visualisation of approach segments. MAPMX, being a garmin proprietary protocol, has been reverse engineered by Avidyne for their IFD540 to interface it with the MX20 or GMX200. ARINC, when using GAMA 429 Graphics with Int provides all infos, but it seems that the Garmin GNS480 doens't provide autopilot roll information in this mode mode. I am very curious what will be the protocol that Dynon will use here.
- 8.33Khz COM for Europe (will probably need ETSO compliance). This is a real issue in Europe (and a major business opportunity) as all new COM installations need to be 8.33Khz compliant from Jan 1st, 2014 and all existing COM installations needs to be 8.33khz able from 2017.
- low cost weather solution for Europe based on a satellite dataconnection (see solutions like http://www.ing-golze.de/index.jsp - well coverage is very poor in this case). Garmin and Avidyne have $$$ certified solutions. But all these solutions are using pretty low bandwidth connection. There are other solutions on the market that could enable complete weather information at a reasonable cost.
- separate box with expert autopilot knobs and dedicated ALT/HDG/CRS buttons (a bit like a combination of the HS34 and the defunct AP76)
- annunciation for the landing gear status along with checking speed and descend status. I made some time back a small box decoding the serial output of the D10A to retrieve speed and descend status to flash a dual color led when the landing gear is not in the expected configuration. Would be nice to have that integrated on Skyview PFD. It seems that Advanced has such functionality.
- airways on the moving map. I understood that US sectionals will be available in a subsequent release, what about US and Europe airways?
