ALTERNATOR FAILURE WARNING

I recommend having a red alarm come up if Main voltage drops below a preset threashold. Threshhold could be set for something like 13.5 volts (on a 12VDC system). This would indicate a probable alternator failure.

Background
I have just purchased and installed one of your EFIS D100's. I am taking out the venturi vacuum system on my experimental but with only 1 battery and 1 alternator was concerned with the potential for failure during IFR. I rationalized this concern with the fact that electrical systems are more reliable than vacuum systems. Then while preparing to install the EFIS, I found that my alternator bracket had broken and I hadn't even know it.

The EFIS D100 already has a nice warning when it goes on it's internal battery. Even more warning could be gained with this low voltage warning indicating the EFIS is operating on the aircraft's battery rather than it's alternator.

Our EMS and FlightDEK products do have this warning capability. The EFIS voltmeter is a status-only item though.
