Backup Li Battery

I've got a quick question for a newbee. How will the backup Li battery behave during loss of alternator? In other words, if the alternator is down and the main battery is fully operational at 12V, will the D180 'use' the Li backup battery? I don't want to end up in a situation where the Li back up battery doesn't kick in until the main battery is drained. I imagine that this isn't the case, but I'd like to verify.

Thanks for your help!

The EFIS uses external power until that power falls below 10V. So if your alt fails, but your battery is 12V, we'll still use your battery. There's really no way for us to know your alternator failed, so there's no way for us to switch.

If you want to run the EFIS off of the battery when your alt fails, put the EFIS on a switch. Leave it on most of the time, but the alt fails, you can throw the switch and it will go to internal power.
