Configuration being installed: D-180 (primary), D-100, HS-34, AP-74.

Question: The wiring harnesses for the D-180 has two 9-pin connectors for PC interface (one EFIS and one EMS), the D-100 one connector, and the installation manual shows one required for the HS-34. Can you explain how these work or do not work together? Do I need all 4 or does the DSAB connection combine any of them through the HS-34? Lots of wire and connectors, just wondering if there is the option for consolidation....

Thanks, Scott Freeman

You need access to all 4 serial ports individually for future updates. There's no way to combine them.

But...

A few of us have gotten a 2-pole 6-position switch and wired all of the serial connections to the switch, with only a single serial port coming off of it.

If you are using your laptop in the plane with a serial-to-usb converter (or directly to the serial port), you can plug in the single connector and turn the knob to the desired position to perform the action you wish.

Saves you having 4 serial ports floating around...
