Has anyone used the D180 as an altitude source for the GTX335? I am trying to do that but no joy so far. I had been using it on a 327 for 10 years, input to the RS232 "in" pin. Now I can't get it to work on the 335. Not sure if I have the settings wrong or what. If anyone has this working I love to know how you did it.

Yes it’ll work for the 335, try another setting other than 4 in the Dynon- that assumes you have the correct input set in the Garmin which can be any of the 3 x RS232 ones set at ALT FMT 3 25ft (page 6-6 of the Install manual). ;)

Thanks, I have the D180 set at FMT 3 100ft and the GTX335 set the same on RS232 Channel 1.   I also have the Garmin GAE 12 as an Altitude source (2) which is working correctly.   I want to end up with the D180 being the source that is used on the 335 as that is the altimeter that you look at in flight.   Not really sure how to do that yet without just turning the GAE off in the settings because Garmin makes the GAE the first priority in that Altitude source list.   However before all that I need to get the D180 Serial Altitude working on the GTX335.

I want to follow up on this to help someone else. The output on the D180 needs to be set to Format 4. The RS232 input on the GTX335 needs to be set to ALT FMT 1 100ft. Only ALT FMT 1 will work. Finally connected to a Garmin help guy that could help.
