I found a HS34! I was wondering if anyone has done this combo yet. Thinking of removing the 496 and replacing it with with a GPS175. Will it work with the legacy Dynon stuff? Any diagrams? Thank you!

Current setup is: EFIS-D10a, EMS-10 with Garmin 496. Adding AP74, HS-34 and a Garmin SL30. Later maybe a Garmin GPS175. Any hints or diagrams? Thank you!

We haven't tested the combination ourselves, but the GPS 175 and the GTN series speak essentially the same ARINC 429 language, so we think it should work. We've had reports from others that are successfully running this combo.

I connected a Garmin 300XL to the Dyanon D10A via the ARINC 429 protocol using an HS34. I know this is an older version GPS but it works perfectly. It is connected bidirectionally. The D10A serves as the CDI and the HS34 can be used to adjust course on the GPS when in suspend (OBI) mode. I wrote it up here:

I have D180, SL40, Stratus ESG, AP74, and Gps496. Plan is to replace 496 with GPS 175 and add cdi Md222-406, 2" which fits nicely in panel and is on the supported list. Wiring from install manual looks straightforward enough for the gps and cdi. My question is. Will I be able to maintain the ability to use the AP in track mode with the 175 via the same serial connection and NMEA or AVIATION protocol?

The GPS 175 is fully supported via the SV-ARINC-429. If it has aviation or NMEA output, though, the AP should be able to track the CDI. However, certain items like vertical guidance are only available over the ARINC connection.

So, If I add a GPS 175, to my HDX setup, I have to add the SV-ARINC-429 module in order to get vertical guidance displayed on the HDX, correct?
