Here is a typical cruise display.

Let's say cyl #2 starts to go lean for whatever reason (clogged injector, air intake leak, etc.). The display might look like this.

Although the data is there that cyl #2 is leaner than usual , it could easily go unnoticed. However, if after cruise settings are established, if the bar display could be "normalized", the display would look like this.

Even though the actual temps are different and the digital display reports as such, the bar graph is aligned.
Now if the previous lean condition developed the display would then look like this.

The overtemp condition would be very apparent without having to memorize and study the numbers. This feature could be activated similar to the current "lean function" , with the display indicating "normal" or something similar. Pilots flying with the EI CHT/EGT gauge which has a normalized function will normally fly with the display in this mode. The normalized bar graph setting is kept in memory until it is reset by the pilot. This allows engine temperature changes from one flight to another to be readily apparent.
The same feature could be extended to the CHT part of the display.
