I am unable to determine from the Skyview manuals whether the Dynon SV-GPS-250 module is sufficient for flight planning and navigating with the SV-MAP-270 software, or if an external GPS receiver is required. Are there any features of SV-MAP-270 that are NOT available if only the SV-GPS-250 is connected to the Skyview?

Thanks, Peter L

The SV-GPS-250 module is all the navigation source you need for position and navigation in VFR flight. The map will work the same regardless the GPS source. You cannot legally use the SV-GPS-250 module for primary navigation in IFR flight. That requires a certified GPS receiver.

The SV-GPS-250 is all you need, unless, as Skysailor says, you want IFR GPS navigation capabilities. For that you need an external IFR certified navigator. But for any and all flight planning and navigation you'd do in VFR, SkyView has everything you need!
