Garmin 296

Dear Sirs

I have a SV 1000 installed in my ULM. I want conect a second GPS like auxiliar. The GPS is a Garmin 296. I have connected it to Serial Port 1 TX and RX with Autopilot/NMEA device Data out 2 and Data in 2 wires. I have configured the SV 1000 serie port 1 with Garmin 296 IN and NOME in out. I have cofigured the Garmin 296 COM 2 , IN aviation OUT NMEA & VHF (9600 baudios) . In PDF menu I have changed SKyVIEW by GPS1. I have actived a FP in Garmin 296 and SV doesnot recognize the Garmin in HSI an FP menu.

I think you've done that, but make sure that the SkyView serial port function is set to GPS1. Also, make sure that under the advanced NMEA menu on the 296 that you set the data rate to normal, not fast.

Also, are you seeing the RX counter and the good sentences counter increase on the SkyView serial port screen? If not, there's probably a connectivity issue that you need to solve first.
