I'm installing a D-180 and ripping out several of my old "steam gages". I'm also replacing the tubing with some 1/4" polyethylene tubing I picked up at Lowe's. Here's my question: The old plumbing used compression fitting at all of the joints. Lowe's doesn't carry that type of fitting in plastic (brass only). Is there any reason why I could not use the quick-disconnect fittings (also sold at Lowe's)? I've seen these used quite successfully in applications under standard home water pressure with no leakage.

I don't see a problem with such a setup - just make sure you don't have any leaks.
