HI all,

I found some LEDs I want to use in my plane, https://www.oznium.com/led-bolts-prewired-leds/led-bolt but they're just too dang bright. For various reasons I don't want to use a dimmer switch, is it Ok to put a small resistor (~1/2W, 560 Ohm) on the ground side of the LED, or will that mess up my warnings? 10" Skyview Classic Touch.

Thanks,

Steve

Most likely that will work, although it is not clear how the LED internal power limiter works from the data sheet. Experiment with different resistor values till you get a desired brightness level.

Or use some opaque tape to cover it. Either way will work. If you use a resistor, use a variable resistor to figure out the actual resistance you need. Then replace the variable resistor with a fixed one of the correct value. Easier than trial and error.
