Sectional map display anomaly

I had the map display on my 7" display do something funny. The display was set 50% PFD and 50% map with the map on the right side. After working well for about and hour, the map section of the display showed an odd image. Instead of displaying the sectional, the map display filled with large blocks that looked like a extreme zoomed in pixelation. The zoom level could not be determined and no recognizable features or indications were present. The PFD side remained functioning normally. Zooming made the blocks larger or smaller but one could never zoom out far enough to see an image of any sort.

I was on the transition between a TAC and sectional chart. I had to reboot the display to get normal display back. The display performed normally for the remainder of the flight.

My 10" display had the map displayed 40% and it continued to work fine.

I could not recall the screen capture key press at the time or would have done that. If it happens again I'll get a screen capture if possible.

RVDan:

We did have reports of "pixelation" after upgrading to v10.0 and this may be one of the issues corrected in v10.1 which we hope to release soon.

It may have been sort of the "opposite"...not "zoomed in way way way too far", but reloading and stuck on the highest level of "blocking" or hierarchy of data (if I understand from watching how the data is stored and loaded).

Watch it initially load a chart next time...it starts with large "blocks" that are fuzzy, and then progressively fills them in with more and more detail.

Might it have gotten stuck on that first step?

Steve,
Exactly what you describe is the known issue with 10.0 that we have been able to reproduce, and it is fixed in 10.1.

Nice to know my debugging skills haven't entirely degraded since moving to Systems Engineering :)

Thanks for the feedback. I can also report that I had a 10" display with backup battery that despite all other efforts (SB did not apply) would hang 1 out of 3 start ups. I wanted to fly instead of sending hthe display back so lived with it for a year. Seems entirely gone with Ver 10.0.

Thanks for the feedback Dan. We did a lot of work in 10.0 to make power up more reliable. Looks like we did that for a lot of people. Still working on getting to 100% for everyone, all the time, no matter what weird electrical systems!
