Skyview+GPS 250+Garmin V?

Is there any reason to add a Garmin V (Garmin 5) that is WAAS ‘capable’ to a Skyview system if I plan on using the GPS-250 and Map-270? I’m guessing if I didn’t have the GPS-250 the Garmin serial output could be used in its place. Serial input can get you glideslope (Table 7, HSI requirements), but guessing you need to tune it on the NAV radio-or am I messed up on this? Or is the Garmin only purely supplying position information? Would there be any benefit on the XPNDR-261? The plane is going to be a VFR machine, but was wondering if the Garmin V would do anything at all or if you need a SL30 or better to get any benefit above the GPS-250. Thanks! (Going in a RV-7A.) Is there a reason to add a GarminV? Only if you want a 2nd GPS input. The GPS 250 provides default GPS input to the HSI and map, while the Garmin V would provide a back up input. I use a Garmin 496 input to SV as a back up. The othr nav data comes from a Nav reciever, typically a SL30/ GNS430. The SL30 is serial data in for VOR/Loc and GS. I think the GNS requrie an ARINC 429 converter to serial then in.

What is a Garmin V? That's not a aviation product we are familiar with, and a google search didn't get me anywhere quickly either.

Garmin V or Garmin 5. It's old school but is pretty decent-other than needing a computer (with a com port) to get way points into it.
