Can the SV-GPS-250 be powered directly from the aircraft "12V" (typically 14.3V) main power bus? GPS-250 documentation I could find indicates it needs 8V (min?, max?), but I was looking to use my "leftover" GPS 250 to either be an alternate GPS source to my skyview on serial port 4 in addition to the GPS 2020 (already wired into serial port 5 and GPS Power) or as a position source to my ACK ELT (although it looks like the GPS-250 spews data at 38,400 baud vs. the ACK's max of 9600 baud).

It is powered by the 8 volt bus out of the display, it will die on aircraft power. A few tried it and it worked for a while, but die it did.

Does the 8 volt bus have sufficient current capability in a parallel mode to power my GPS2020 and GPS250? If I connect the GPS250 into serial port #4, does serial port #4 talk with the GPS250?

Thanks,
Gregg

Yes, it does have sufficient power, many are doing just that
