Hy there! We connected the EMS and EFIS together in a bench, just to test them before install both on our RV-9A panel.
Everything looks like ok, except we didn´t have the sensors installed. We connected the blue wire (pin 34) from EMS to blue wire pin 5 from EFIS, and the green pin 35 from EMS to green pin 4 from EFIS.
Then we could see the EMS´s screen on EFIS display. Nice...
But there is a messagen on EMS display " EFIS not Detected". What does it means? JC - Aracaju - RV-9A,

The wires you connected allow you to see the EMS on the EFIS, but to see the EFIS on the EMS, you must connect the EFIS and EMS serial ports together with a null modem.

A null modem connects pin 3 on the EFIS 9 pin serial connector to pin 2 on the EMS 9 pin serial connector, 2 on the EFIS to 3 on the EMS, and 5 on the EFIS to 5 on the EMS. If you make your own connector, you only need to connect pin 2 on the EFIS serial 9 pin to pin 3 on the EMS. You need to remove this connector when you do software updates.

A future software update will put all data on the connections that you already made and you'll be able to remove the null modem.
