    Remote Magnetometer Location

I just put my magnetometer out in my 182 wingtip with Quasar lights. I should be calibrating in the next couple weeks and will report back.

    Fuel Calibration

Good stuff! I temporarily installed the HDX today and started the fuel calibration process to get a look at what I’ll need. On my 39.5 gallon tank, it prompted me to use five gallons at a time (my useable is 39.5 in each tank, but Skyview asks or a whole number. I’ll go the conservative route...

    Fuel Calibration

The time is coming soon to calibrate my new HDX with Cies fuel senders on my 182. I would love to hear any tips and tricks, secrets of success, things you wish you did. As I understand it, I’ll need to deflate the nose tire and/or the nose strut to get it level, add the unusable fuel (per the...

    Dimmer Control

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like it’ll be easier to let Skyview do its own dimming and I’ll control everything else (Garmin) with the MaxDim. I’m ok with that!

    Dimmer Control

Auto or Panel mount? I’ve already got a MaxDim dimmer that will control my audio panel, radio and GPS. It wouldn’t be too hard to add the HDX screen to it…. just not sure if I should. Pros/cons of each? Thanks!

    D3 Flush Mount

For your consideration, there is a policy statement that allows for the permanent installation of PED (portable electronic device) mounting hardware in certificated aircraft as a minor alteration requiring only a logbook entry. PS-ACE-23-01; Installation of Mounting Devices and Wiring...

    172M Panel Upgrade

This whole thread is super helpful as I‘m designing my own HDX installation… I see a 5A breaker for “USB” and a 15A for “AUX POWER.” I’m assuming the 15A is for charging ports, but what is the USB breaker powering?

    172M Panel Upgrade

One the mounting tray, I see the EMS, ADAHRS, ARINC modules stacked. On the left I’m assuming the ADSB IN module? Great idea with a network hub on the side of the radio tray. What’s the connector in front of of it (pic 3)? I can’t quite make out the brand of the avionics mounting rails…...

    172M Panel Upgrade

Thanks for posting, Bryant. I'm in the planning stages of my HDX install for my 182 and love seeing how others are getting it done. Keep the updates coming!!

    G5 GPS input

I’m not sure what’s available on the Skyview side, but the G5 Installation Manual I have says RS-232 inputs on the G5 should be set to MapMX (WAAS Units) or AVIATION (Non WAAS Units).

Seeking Feedback on third party HDX Flight Simulator/Trainer Development

I am in the planning stages for an HDX system in my Cessna 182 and having an iPad training app would go a long way in answering a ton of questions. I’ve downloded and used some of the GPS navigator apps (Garmin GTN, GPS/GNC/GTX, Avidyne IFD) and it has really helped me decide which I want to...

    182L Plan

Today I went to a local avionics shop and played with their HDX demo unit and came away with a couple questions. 1. Is there a way to have the split screen on startup display the Engine page? I’d like to have a big round Oil Pressure dial to see on startup, then once verified, switch to Map...

    182L Plan

Is there room in the radio stack for the COM panel, knob panel and AP panel side-by-side?

    182L Plan

Excellent!! I like your magnetometer mount. I was thinking about it being in the wing tip, but was concerned about it being so close to my wingtip lights. Yours is a great solution! Thank you for taking the time to answer all my questions! Super helpful!

    182L Plan

Hello all, I am in the planning stages of installing a Skyview HDX system in my 182L (as well as a total rewire). I’m an A&P and will be working with an IA who has installed several HDX systems. He’s a busy guy, so I thought I would ask all my dumb questions here! I would like to be well...
