    UMA tachmeter question

You could check continuity with a multimeter. One wire on the shield, the other on the plug/sensor. Happy to help!

    UMA tachmeter question

I used a slightly different UMA sender, the T1A3 (installs where the RPM cable was) so I'm not confident the wiring will be the same, but I don't see why it wouldn't. Power wire, 20AWG to a 3A circuit breaker (or 12v VPX output in your case) Ground wire to the main ground block (I don't...

    My 182 Installation is complete!

After months of research and planning, I started on Oct. 23. Between work trips and a week or two off to put full-time work in, I finished it today, December 19- So about two months to install a single Dynon HDX 10”, COM, XPDR, Garmin GPS 175, Cies fuel senders, new circuit breakers and...

    HDX, IFD, External CDI

Mine is an L model with a vertical gust lock. It fits upside down and there may be enough of a load on it from the elevator that it won’t slip out. I may rig some sort of Velcro strap that acts as a retainer…

    HDX, IFD, External CDI

Nice setup! Completely off topic…. What is your gust lock solution? I have a 182 and I’m in the process of installing a single screen HDX. The screen blocks the gust lock hole from the top and I’m trying to figure out a solution. Thanks!

    3D Printed Panel Mount

In order to have the knob panels on the same “plane” as my GPS175 and AirGizmos mount, I designed a block to put my knob panels in. I think it turned out pretty good (pay no attention to the cheesy cover in the middle. I’ll replace that with a more refined panel until I install the autopilot).

    Cies Fuel Senders

TLDR; When using Cies Fuel Senders, use the GREEN sensor wire! I installed new Cies fuel senders in my 182 to work with a new installation of Skyview HDX. Reading the installation manuals (obviously, not close enough), I followed the prominent wiring diagram that came with the Cies senders...

    Remote Magnetometer Location

I just put my magnetometer out in my 182 wingtip with Quasar lights. I should be calibrating in the next couple weeks and will report back.

    Fuel Calibration

Good stuff! I temporarily installed the HDX today and started the fuel calibration process to get a look at what I’ll need. On my 39.5 gallon tank, it prompted me to use five gallons at a time (my useable is 39.5 in each tank, but Skyview asks or a whole number. I’ll go the conservative route...

    Fuel Calibration

The time is coming soon to calibrate my new HDX with Cies fuel senders on my 182. I would love to hear any tips and tricks, secrets of success, things you wish you did. As I understand it, I’ll need to deflate the nose tire and/or the nose strut to get it level, add the unusable fuel (per the...

    Dimmer Control

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like it’ll be easier to let Skyview do its own dimming and I’ll control everything else (Garmin) with the MaxDim. I’m ok with that!

    Dimmer Control

Auto or Panel mount? I’ve already got a MaxDim dimmer that will control my audio panel, radio and GPS. It wouldn’t be too hard to add the HDX screen to it…. just not sure if I should. Pros/cons of each? Thanks!

    D3 Flush Mount

For your consideration, there is a policy statement that allows for the permanent installation of PED (portable electronic device) mounting hardware in certificated aircraft as a minor alteration requiring only a logbook entry. PS-ACE-23-01; Installation of Mounting Devices and Wiring...

    172M Panel Upgrade

This whole thread is super helpful as I‘m designing my own HDX installation… I see a 5A breaker for “USB” and a 15A for “AUX POWER.” I’m assuming the 15A is for charging ports, but what is the USB breaker powering?
