    Skyview Wish List

I've had the same conversation with Avidyne regarding enroute VNAV - it's squarely in Dynon's court and has been for some time. I've come to believe Dynon is in a life support mode, maintaining the existing product line as best they can. I also believe they are no longer capable of...

    Skyview Wish List

With how often it *doesn't* work and with the required subscription...no thanks. At this point, I'd be happy if they just stopped breaking things with each update i.e. map info items are gone as of 17.4.

Dynon fuel quantity and flow rate to GNS and IFD.

There is no built in way to accomplish this. Is this for a certified aircraft or an experimental? If the later, it is possible with some extra parts.

    Skyview Wish List

The IFD has superior flight planning capability, and there is no technical reason why the HDX can't put fuel information out in a compatible format for other things to use. I built a small black box to provide that ability, and use my IFD540 for all navigation and related tasks instead of the...

    GPS antenna splitter

Using the correct terminology can also help reduce or eliminate confusion. Anyone doing a search for ”active GPS antenna” won’t be lead to information similar to how the Dynon GPS pucks work. They’ll instead be lead to info about antennas with powered amplifiers ala the GPS 35, and confusion...

    GPS antenna splitter

The GPS2020 isn't really a GPS antenna like the Garmin 175 expects, and it's not really an "active" antenna per se either. WAAS antennas for GPS navigators, such as the Garmin GA 35 or RAMI 801, are "active" GPS antennas and receive power through the coax in addition to sending the GPS signal...

    ADS-B over WiFi

I don't care to push the issue with Dynon, and I completely believe their developer resources are pretty limited. Having been an embedded software developer for many years prior to a career change (and still doing embedded development, both HW and SW, as a side gig), I hesitate to call the...

    ADS-B over WiFi

If iFLY efb needs the heartbeats, then it's absolutely a Dynon issue. GDL90 requires the heartbeat message per the spec and Dynon (as of 17.1 anyway) never sends it. The issue I opened with them on this topic is request # 150700 and in it I detailed the exact issue along with how to...

    ADS-B over WiFi

I've already been in touch with Dynon and provided the details. In the me Lack of ownship isn't really a big deal, just a minor inconvenience. I solved it just by swapping out the message ID if I see my configured address (which includes recalculating the CRC) as the traffic report payload...

    Dual band ADS-B AXP340 question

Yep, you'll get both bands. The single antenna is "good enough" and receives both 978MHz and 1090MHz signals.

    ADS-B over WiFi

As suspected, simply adding the heartbeat message while passing everything else through works - both traffic and weather shows up on my IFD. The notion of some kind of "extended" protocol is simply incorrect.

    ADS-B over WiFi

I already have the latest versions of everything for my hardware. Upgrading to an HDX a month or so, but there has been no published changes there (and potentially a step backwards with respect to WiFi). Your socat example might not have required custom hardware, but if I move forward...

    ADS-B over WiFi

Well, as I mentioned, Dynon's traffic report and uplink messages appear to be standard capstone/GDL-90. It doesn't appear that there is anything "extended" about what Dynon is putting out, only a couple of missing pieces that are required by the capstone/GDL-90 protocol.

    ADS-B over WiFi

Not sure where talk of the "extended" format comes from, nor have I seen anything official on such a thing. Stratux has their own custom packets, and ForeFlight does it's multicast to tell anything listening that it exists, but I'm not aware of anything else. Do you have a reference? The...

    ADS-B over WiFi

Well, it's -11 degrees here :). The code is running on an embedded board for prototyping. Later this week or early next after I finish a work trip, it's going to start passing all the UDP port 4000 data to my IFD540 while injecting heartbeat messages at the appropriate time. I pretty...
