Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

So - I understand your point - and the NGT-9000 is higher cost than the uAvionix solutions. My rebuttal is this: -the NGT-9000D (panel mount w/diversity enablement) or NGT-9000R D (remote mount w/diversity enablement) are around $8,000 USD - NOT $16,000 -the TAS traffic enablement adds about...

Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

Yeah, I suspect we'll see more countries signing on to space based ADS-B in the future. Next year is class A/B over 12,500 in Canada, with 2026 as the earliest for lower. At the moment, as others have said, Dynon has no offering capable of 1090ES diversity out. As an outside observer with...

Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

One other thing to note on diversity 1090ES - every TCAS II equipped aircraft has diversity antennas and mode S transponders, and has since the 90's. 1090ES is just an update to the mode S transponder standard (which does require the hardware being tied to a suitable position source, etc)...

Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

Yeah, that's a fair point. The one thing that I think is settled is that, outside of the US, 1090ES will be the ADS-B standard that all, or the vast majority of, countries will adopt when moving to ADS-B based ATC surveillance. Many ANSPs will deploy (and some have) ground based stations...

Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

That's true - but I believe most of those listed ANSPs do plan to make operational use of space based ADS-B, and about a third are the founding partners. Yes, the ALERT service is for emergencies only. National SAR providers (including CAP in the US) have access to this service - no matter...

Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

For satellite based ADS-B, the Aireon Wikipedia page has the following as of today: More ANSPs do seem to be signing on as time goes on, though I'm not aware of any that are requiring satellite based ADS-B in low level airspace... at least not yet....it may be a few years. Most seem to be...

Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

At the moment, there is no ADS-B mandate in Canada, and guidance from TC and Nav Canada has been withdrawn.... However, the expectation is that there will be a future requirement for 1090ES diversity equipment that supports space based ADS-B, as Nav Canada is one of the founding partners of...

My Highly Desired Features - Wish List for Dynon

No direct Dynon experience, as we weren't able to purchase in Canada when we were looking to last year, but I've been keeping an eye on this... My votes (mostly for the certified world), for what they're worth: -reasonable third party autopilot support, or drastically increased STC pace for...

    Canadian Certified Installer ?

Good luck - I hope you make progress, and would love to hear details. That said.... I spent a long time pushing this and the answer from Dynon didn't change, just became more firm. They have interpreted the text of the original bilateral as being gospel, and no FAA or TC guidance letters...

Dynon Announces First Twin-Engine Aircraft Approval for SkyView HDX - Including Autopilot - for Piper Seneca

Sounds good, looking forward to more updates as this moves forward. Cheers, Colin

    Canadian Certified Installer ?

As others have said.... Dynon has taken the view that full TC approval of their STC is required for them to legally sell for installation in a certified C reg airplane - ie, you can't get a US shop to install in your C reg plane either. It is true that FAA STCs for FAA types (at least for...

Dynon Announces First Twin-Engine Aircraft Approval for SkyView HDX - Including Autopilot - for Piper Seneca

Looks good! I don't have anything to add on placards as I have no direct experience with these systems, but a few questions: -what are your plans for the radio stack and transponder? -the ammeter for the prop boots - could that be handled in SkyView with the appropriate sensors? -the...

Dynon Announces First Twin-Engine Aircraft Approval for SkyView HDX - Including Autopilot - for Piper Seneca

Glad to hear it, and promising for the ability to replace as much extra plumbing and analog gauges as possible. Still no TC approval and not able to purchase in Canada, so we have not moved forward with our initially planned 2x Senecas...at this point it may end up being Garmin if we're still...

    Software Update v16

So... I have no direct experience with these Dynon systems so far, but have been reading a fair bit of documentation in preparation for an install. I'm sure Dynon Support will chime in soon with a better answer, but one thing I note in v16 is support for the SV-AP-TRIMAMP (per a post on here...
