    Skyview classic for IFR training

I just mentioned I learned on IFR steam gauges and hand flying. I do like glass though! :) Absolutely agree that accident rates have gone down over the years, and there's a good case to be made that better automation and system design has helped a lot with that. while automation's probably a...

    Skyview classic for IFR training

I just rewatched "Children of the Magenta Line". Sadly, stick and rudder skills are becoming a scarcity among so many pilots training to be button pushers. :( I always recommend getting time in tailwheel, gliders, aerobatics, and for fun, some formation flying. Great skill builders!

    Skyview classic for IFR training

I haven't used my instrument rating as PIC in over 20 years, when I was flying on steam gauges. I am interested in getting back to instrument flying. I have sim and aircraft time scheduled to start to bring me back up to speed on IFR Flying. I also have access to a Pipistrel Virus SW with a...

    Panel Planning Help Request

@Niall Leslie Unfortunately the capstan model won't work for my application. Just out of curiosity, why a capstan servo? My wife's Virus has AP and both are arm drive just fwd of the parachute.

It's also worth mentioning that while the units are adjacent as viewed, this is only showing the size of the bezel which sits aft the panel plane. The actual panel cutout is smaller. This leaves connected panel material between the units. Thanks!

Not yet but it does seem it would be easier to get to with the left hand then having to switch hands off the stick to get to them with my right hand.

This keeps my right hand on the stick. I really like that idea. I'm not thrilled with the aesthetic, but I'll keep working on it.

While I agree that symmetry often creates visual harmony and is inherently pleasing, but design rooted in function tends to have a deeper, enduring beauty. Balanced asymmetry, where purposeful imbalances achieve visual equilibrium, can be equally compelling. I think i it is worth looking at In...

One more item to consider... The PS Engineering PM1200 is the remote head version. I had a close look at it today... it is a small toggle switch and two potentiometers/knobs. Doesn't even have an LED power indicator. This means I can make the faceplate for the intercom significantly smaller...

Three variants. 1 - Vertical 2 - Horizontal #1 3 - Horizontal #2 NOTES: 1. The lower right panel is a drawer. 2. I can easily remove the intercom from the panel altogether to reduce clutter. That will create an aesthetic asymmetry. Yes, form follows function, but the aesthetic is also...

It was my understanding that the original Dynon comm was junk and that the newer Dynon comm radio is Trig underneath. Can anyone confirm this? As for the intercom... What you see is a remote head PS engineering 1200 high noise environment intercom which includes push to intercom function. I...

Hello and thank you for the great feedback. Much appreciated!! Here is an update to my design based upon the recommendations, experience, and insight from this form. Round 2 1. Any benefit to reversing the Left/Right position of the groups to either side of the main display? 2. Any benefit...

    Panel Planning Help Request

Hi, I'm looking to get some feedback from experienced Skyview users. I'm designing the panel for my current project which is a day/night VFR tandem seat, open cockpit, experimental. left hand throttle and right hand on the stick. I have a Skyview Touch that was given to me for this project. I...
