    Pocket FMS

Trev, Thats correct I looked at the pocket FMS site and wrongly assummed we were about to get a better base map. I think the towns are not visible on my screen shot because the aircraft was in the hangar and the gps could not get the correct altitude and painted everything red? Looks like the...

    Pocket FMS

Trevor, I certainly was confused after visiting the Pocket FMS website. Expected to get roads etc. thus the dissapointment. I think the towns will show up. That screenshot was obtained in the hangar and the gps height is incorrect thus everything is red. Looks as though the real improvement...

    Pocket FMS

Hi, I have just downloaded and installed the European Pocket FMS data sets. I am extremely dissapointed in the result. 1. There is no increase in Topo data. 2. The VRPs have the most illogical abreviations. 3. Within twenty miles of my home base EGMC there are two incorrect locations shown for...

    Servo's

Tell your inspection to speak with LAA Engineering. They have already been through this in great detail. I performed some torque tests earlier this year to convince them that the aileron servo attachment would not permantly distort before the shear pin failed. Richard

    Interface with Garmin 430/530

Thanks for all the info. I will try the sequence suggested in the next couple of days. Reading through your replies I realise that one possibility is that maybe that I had the wrong nav source selected ! Thanks again all the advice. Richard

    Interface with Garmin 430/530

Yes, the GI106A is directly linked to the 530. It all dates back to designing the panel some two years back when it wasn't too clear what the Skyview was going to feature. It gives me an ILS completely independant of the SkyView. Question is, if I remove the resolver output from the GI106A in...

    Interface with Garmin 430/530

I have just found that I have a data conflict when a Garmin 530/GI106A combo is linked to the Skyview via the ARINC adapter. The problem shows up when trying to use the OBS feature on the Garmin. Initially the Garmin reads the GI 106 correctly then in a matter of seconds the track defaults to...

Thanks for the explanation. Looking forward to the raster feature being available. Richard

    Jeppesen Avionics Data Europe

I am a bit confused and dissapointed with what is being said about the Jeppersen data for Europe. Other equipments like Avmap and MGL provide the facility to load 'Raster' data. This means its possible in the UK to load a complete CAA published 1/2 mill VFR map. OK you need to get it scanned or...

    Monroy ATD-300+

Dynon, Have you an email address I can send you the responses I have received from Avidyne. I thought I had asked the question clearly enough but I don't think their replies move this issue forward. Richard

    Monroy ATD-300+

I would be really happy if I am wrong but sometime late last year Dynon said it wouldnt read Avidyne data so I have displayed on Garmin 530 only. Richard

    Monroy ATD-300+

Have the same problem with an Avidyne TAS 600 that the Dynon can't display. Richard

    Interference in headphones

I had a bad case in my RV10. All proffessionally installed with single point grounds etc. Two 10" screens gave the same level of noise on Garmin 530 and SL30 com receivers. Dynon supplied filters gave a complete cure. Although there are pops and cracks as the Dynon screens run through the boot...

    Hall Effect Ammeter

This for anyone wishing to move away from exposed current shunts. I have made use of a Honeywell CS series Hall effect current transducer. They are available in 3 handy ranges 57A,72A and 100A. The output is ratiometric (changes in proportion to supply volts) but this is easily managed by using...
