Fuel Tank Calibration with the RED Avionics CP10A Converter (Capacitive/Voltage)

Hello,

I had to exchange the Right-Tank CP10A Converter on my LNC2 (with AFS 6000 PFD) and I try to calibrate it again.

The 6000 PFD programming is clear for me - not so for the CP10A-Converter unit from RED Avionics.

Must I use the 1S (1S) Calibration mode? And if yes, how is the sequence of pushing the "BUTTON" on the RED Circuit Board, is it:

a) MASTER ON, holding the CP10A BUTTON for longer than 5s, checking the 1S Mode.
b) 1S status LED is flashing.
c) push BUTTON to set Empty Fuel Tank condition.
d) Fill the tank in 6 steps with 10 Lt each > For each step, set the AD-Value into the PFD, which is in the Set-Mode
e) When the Tank holds 60 Lt. push BUTTON on the CP10A to confirm the end of the procedure
f) Save the values on the AFS 6000 PFD.

Right? Any hints are higly appreciated

Best regards
Patrick

I have no direct experience with RED Avionics, but from what I read, it gives you the option of two calibration methods to compensate for possible volume variances in your tank. The first calibration method can be done at the converter using multiple set points for different fuel levels. But, if your EFIS has built in calibration, as yours does, you shouldn't need multiple set points at the CP10A. You simply set the CP10A to Set Point 1, and leave it there (it's already there by default). You then use the EFIS calibration to calibrate using various fuel levels in your tank. If you're already comfortable with the AFS 6000 calibration, I'd stick with that instead of calibrating with the CP10A.

LNC2-
1. When you have the 1 set-point (first light on the left) ‘flashing’ then go to step 2.
2. Press the main ‘button’ once.
3. The above light should go solid.
4. All LEDS go out except green flashing every few seconds.
5. CP10A is now calibrated. - proceed to doing the standard DYNON fuel tank calibration.
Thats it 😉.
ps - I found the instructions had a lot (too much) of info & it was confusing.
Basically all you need to do is setup the CP10A itself first & stop. THEN do the Tank/s calibration as per the EFIS/EMS instructions !!

Thank you everybody!

I managed it yesterday, according your inputs - here a resume what I have done:

  1. MASTER ON, hold the RAD CP10A BUTTON for more than 5 s, double check 1S point mode.
  2. Assuming that the Tank is empty, Press the BUTTON to activate the TAMK empty condition.
  3. Proceed to the fill up sequence according the AFS 6000 settings (in my LNC2 case, 7 calibration points with 10 Liter intervall, 0Lt.=empty to, 60 Lt.=Full).
  4. After each adding Fuel intervall, change the AD values on the AFS 6000 programming screen.
  5. When reached the FULL Condition, SAVE the AFS 6000 values.
  6. Nothing to do with the RED CP10A, unit.
  7. SWITCH MASTER OFF.
  8. End of the programming procedure.

Best regards, thank you for your support
