I recently bought an airplane with Avidyne 550 and 440 with the Dynon Skyview and Autopilot. I am struggling with ILS approaches. I fly the IAP with the GPS and the course reversal. But when inbound to the IAP, I can't seem to get the inbound course set up when I switch to the ILS (green). It will fly to the last course entered. I think I found something last night to try, but wanted to see what the experts do.

Are you certain the navigator is switching from GPS mode to VHF mode?

Take a look at the top line on the 550 screen where both the active mode is annunciated in green and the armed mode, if any, is annunciated to its right in cyan (blue). If the approach was properly loaded, it will start out with GPS in green and VLOC to its right in blue. There's a laundry list of conditions that need to be met for auto switch over. If they've been satisfied, at the proper time the green GPS disappears and the VLOC turns green as the localizer is engaged for capture.
