ADS-B Traffic dropouts with 17.3 HDX Update

I installed 17.3 in my dual HDX. Now, the traffic targets are dropping out, so much so that they're visible for about 30-40% of the time. I haven't checked the weather screens or the TFRs.

Questions:
- Am I the only one seeing this loss of ADS-B Traffic info?
- I see talk about an update to the transponder: Is that something I should also find and load? (or is that part of the overall 17.3 package?)

According to the instructions the transponder update is included in the 17.3 package but you explicitly have to perform the update to the transponder in the transponder menu of the Dynon, this is not handled automatically

OK, thanks.
About the first question: Am I the only one seeing this loss of ADS-B traffic info?

Might want to wait a bit. Most members of the forum don't come here all the time. Even us 'regulars' can sometimes go days without visiting.

We have not had reports of this so far with 17.3.0. We do get reports from time to time of traffic dropping, but there have been some fixes for that over some of the recent system updates. So far it doesn't sound like others have noted any changes there with this one, but as Rhino did note, it is early since the version release.

Question 1: What version were you running prior to updating to 17.3.0? Were you on 17.1.0 or an earlier version?

Question 2: You noted the transponder update, which can be done but I doubt that it's related, but have you updated your ADSB module lately? You can see if the unit itself has an update present by going to SETUP > ADSB STATUS > enter this menu and if an update is available, it will prompt you in the menu to update it (in yellow). The most recent ADSB module update was only for the ADSB-472 module. So if you have an ADSB-470, the last update did not apply.

The update is only for 262 transponder correct? Not sure if scrollF4 has 261 (US) or 262 (outside US)

It's for both the 261 and 262. I have attached the service bulletin from Trig that this update covers for reference for the background on it.

The service bulletin doesn't discuss the software update process with SkyView. This should be used simply as a reference for the reasoning behind the update and what changed. The process to update the TT21/22 vs the SV-XPNDR-261/262 is a bit different.

Thank you, I was going by the update and it only shows -262. I wasn't going to update to 17.3 since nothing applied to my configuration, now I will.

Thanks. I had installed all previous versions as they became available, so it’s safe to say I had whatever the previous version was named/numbered.

As for the ADSB module, I installed no update. I’m out of town, but I can send my replies Monday back in the hangar.

I completed the update last week and also updated the transponder as well. I have not had any traffic dropouts but I am still having issues with the WIFI connection to Foreflight frequently dropping and reconnecting. I thought this SW version was supposed to remedy that problem. And yes the WIFI dongles are not behind the instrument panel.

I have the new update in the USB stick but won't get the chance to visit the airport until the weekend. Will respond later.

BG,
1: I was running 17.1.

2: Sure enough, my ADSB had an update awaiting install. It's installed and I'll wring her out tomorrow morning. Also, I do have the 472 module.

This morning the ADSB traffic worked much better, as well as it did before. I'm thinking we can close this one.

Thanks for the update! Glad to hear that. If anything else comes up, let us know.

Thanks,

Hi
I had some losses of trafic with version 16.5 and after update of my TR1500 Flarm which is supposed to have the ADSB in wired to my two HDX displays.
After checking the TR1500 works fine and it seems to be the transponder has a missing ADSB Out problem.
I made the 17.3 update yesterday with the transponder update included and hope things will run fine.
will give more about the result after my next flight
