    AOA indicator

The three ways to indicate AoA are: 1. Visually on screen or glareshield 2. Audibly 3. Tactile/haptically Of these three, the most foolproof for stall avoidance is a combination of audible and haptic warnings because they work when you are distracted or not looking. For precision approaches...

    FltPlanGO and Dynon

Great! It was ambiguous from the video, but I did a freeze frame and zoom to confirm that the upload button was there for routes, not just a dowloaded fp. I can now ditch EasyVFR which does not provide Canadian CFS data or approach plates. I still have to buy datasets from them, though...

    FltPlanGO and Dynon

Dissappointing.  It requires that you create a flight plan on the Fltplan website, download it to the app, the push it to the SkyView. I was hoping that one could edit a route in the App and push it to the SkyView, which is faster, more convenient and does not require sharing personal...

    FltPlanGO and Dynon

Yeah. I downloaded the updated App that supposedly supports this, but no joy yet. Fltplan is a bit ragged with their updates and documentation, so fingers crossed that it'll be ready by the new year. Vern

    FltPlanGO and Dynon

Oh. From the original posting, it sounded like one could send a flightplan from the FLTPlan GO app (via wifi) to the SV.  BTW, this wifi transfer is what I have been waiting for, so I hope it comes soon. Vern

    EGT/CHT Troubles

I reworket all of the egt probe conections by repacing with barrel crimp connectors. That fixed everything for a while but now I have a probe failure. It has odd behaviour, working fine while the engine is running but not when shut down. Nevertheless, it's time for a replacement after less...

    Yaw damper

Electronically easy, mechanically complex. Attachment points, large forces and control friction conspire to make it aircraft-specific. A rudder with electric trim may be the easiest way, but adding mass to the rudder without careful analysis is risky. I looked at this for Van's RVs, and the...

    Easy Airspeed Calibration

Here's a simple true airspeed calibration technique that I have used with SkyView. It was very useful for an 8500' WOT speed runs on my Rocket, confirming a 250 mph maximum cruise speed: Stabilize indicated airspeed using the autopilot to hold altitude and heading. Using the autopilot control...

    PocketFMS frequent flyer

The Frequent Flyer also allows the use of Easy VFR on your iPad and direct transfer of plans using WiFi. Canada is an afterthought for PFMS and the database does not include IFR/procedures, taxi diagrams or CFS data, despite what it implies on the web site. It's pretty Euro-centric.

    Blue line

Well, I must be configuring something wrong. Unfortunately, this is difficult to test on the ground, but looking at the ASI in six pack mode, I see nothing on the ASI except the standard colored arcs. I'll dig deeper

    Blue line

I miss the blue line (Va) marking on the ASI in my old aircraft. Although it is a programmable number in the SkyView, it is not displayed on screen. I notice this most in six-pack mode. I currently work around it by setting my airspeed bug, but that is not preferred. What's up? Vern

    Stick shaker

I used to manufacture a glareshield mounted AoA indicator for the D1x systems. It was popular, but I found that it was not the best way to indicate AoA for the average VFR pilot. Because it was not foolproof, I chose to discontinue it in favor of Dynon's progressive audio indication. Still...

    Ammeter wonky indication.

Thanks Jake. That's my guess as well. A whole lot of shaking going on with my IO540. Not as smooth as I would like. Prop is balanced but I wonder if the prop indexing is optimal

    Ammeter wonky indication.

Odd behaviour on todays flight. My ammeter, with the shunt in series with the alternator, was reading negative current and was erratic. Switching off loads increased the magnitude of the negative indication. Voltage was rock solid at 14.3 V. After a two hour layover, everything was normal...

    Simple/Cheaper Black Box for Autotrim?

This device does not require any panel space. http://makerplane.org/?p=1919 I developed it for the SkyView system prior to Dynon's AP introduction. Complete documentation is avalable here: http://54.162.78.90/redmine/documents/45 Cheers, Vern Little
