    Manual Trim versus electric

I have an RV-8, HS-180 with HS-34. Built with manual trim. I am thinking about adding the HS-74 autopilot. Is there any reason to or not to add electric trim? John

    HS34-696GPS interconnect

I have a D-180 with HS34. I have a 696 installed and hardwired. When I attempt to use the GPS for NAV on the HSI page I get a "waiting for data" message. Would this be another case of not doing the proper computer installation process or is it possibly a wiring problem?

    Power up for first time.

I probably asked this question earlier but can't find the answer. If I am updating my D180 & HS34 (no autopilot) using a Macbook running bootcamp and Windows 98 will that work or do I need a newer version of Windows? John

    D180 internal Battery

My RV8 is ready to fly. I turned on the power last week and received a "internal battery low charge" message. Other than cranking it up and going flying, allowing the internal battery to charge, is there anything else I should do or check prior to flying?

    Calibrating Fuel levels.

RV8 with I0360. 21 gal. for each tank. D-180 installed. Standard Vans supplied float type senders. I am getting ready to calibrate my fuel levels on the 180. I think the wording is "add a known amount". I understand I need to do this several times but, how much? 1 gal? 2 gal? 5 Gal? or...

    Dynon upgrades

I purchased a D-180 with HS-34 at Sun & Fun 2009. I am getting ready to launch my RV-8 for the first time and thought it might be a good plan to upgrade. Are there any out there I need before flying? Also, have you heard of any problems using Windows/bootcamp on a MacBook? Is there any minimum...

    Power up for first time.

finally worked up my nerve and turned it on. Nothing fried and the screen came right up. Sat and played with it a while and put the inclination data in the first day. Hopefully I did that right. John

    Power up for first time.

I have an RV-8 almost finished, with D-180, HS-34, SL-30, GTX327 and Garmin 696. Getting ready to power up for the first time. Is there anything special I should do first? During the initial calibrations do I have to do all the first time or can I do some and then shut it down and come back...

D-180,HS-34 with SL-30 audio alert connections

RV-8 with D-180, HS-34, sl-30, GTX 327 and Garmin 696 hardwired. I am trying to get by using the SL-30 intercom function. Has anyone had any luck connecting the audio output from the HS-34 to an SL-30? I know I'll need the rheostat for volumn. If so where does it connect? My back-up plans...

    SL-30 HS-34 installation

Actually after further reading, I figured that bundle was for the altitude encoder to transponder hookup. Since I have a seperate AmeriKing encoder I removed that bundle. Thanks John

    SL-30 HS-34 installation

Thanks, That covers most of my questions. What about the 3 ft. bundled wire. It looks like the EDC bundle but is short? John

    SL-30 HS-34 installation

Working on the wiring harnesses still. Equipment installed is FD-180, HS-34 SL-30 and GTX 327. On the 37 pin connector from the FD-180 There is a white and black wire marked aux serial receive. Is there any need for this with the HS-34 in the system? On the 25 pin EFIS connector there is a...

Thanks, I had a hard time believing it was that simple. I will have a 696 on board, but I have not figured out how to pick a signal off that for the HS-34 :-) John
