    Back seat EFIS?

Bill Marvel -- now, THERE'S a name I haven't heard in awhile! Good to hear from you. I just thought that there might be an easy way to do it, and with the economy of monitors/TVs/gizmos these days, it was worth asking. I have an instructor who said that he could see my EFIS well enough from...

    Back seat EFIS?

I searched the archives to see if this has been addressed and came up dry.  Since I have a tandem-seat plane (RV-8), my instrument panel is pretty much obscured from the back seat.  The flight info on my D-100 and D-120 are useless from back there, so getting a biennial flight review would...

    No wind indication

FINALLY figured it out! After e-mail exchanges and phone calls, it was discovered that my Dynon units were made long enough ago that they were wired a little differently than current units. Consequently, the GPS was NOT connected to the Dynon units at all! The serial output WAS connected to...

    Heads Up Display

Just curious if anyone at Dynon has given this concept any thought?  Several years ago at Oshkosh, there was a vendor with a functional HUD, but he disappeared.  I think this was before the glass panel revolution. I would think that development of a HUD would be a pretty simple process for...

    Leaning

This is from the paragraph of the version I downloaded: "... On some engines, when given the proper set of inputs, the EMS can also calculate percent power and lean-of-peak or rich-of-peak operation in real time. To do this, the EMS needs access to OAT, MAP, RPM, Altitude (from EFIS or GPS) and...

    Leaning

Thanks for the clarification. I got the info from the electronic user's manual that I downloaded yesterday from the Dynon website. If there's a more recent version, maybe it should replace the one online. I'm just now beginning to explore the "leaning learning curve". With my last plane, I...

    Leaning

I have used the %LOP/PK/ROP function on my D-120 regularly, in conjunction with monitoring the EGTs. However, in re-reading the manual, I just noticed that that function is based on 8.5:1 compression engines only. I have 9.2:1 pistons in my IO-360. What is the effect of this compression on...

    High Fuel Pressure Warning!!!! HELP!!!

I, too, had a high fuel pressure warning last weekend. IO-360 in an RV-8, and the normal fuel pressure runs in the mid-twenties. However, I happened to see the fuel pressure rise to 30 psi, then continue a very slow climb where it maxed out at around 36. Everything else seemed quite normal...

Can I do a straight swap SV for D180?

OK, thanks. I knew that you guys would figure a way to upgrade without it being too big a headache. :)

Can I do a straight swap SV for D180?

I currently have a D-100 and a D-120. Should I someday wish to upgrade, I have two questions: 1) Is the electrical connection to the SV the same as that of the D-100? 2) If not, would it be possible for Dynon to make a plug-in connector that would mate the SV to the existing D-100 plug?

The Yellow Screen of Death ...

Took the old laptop (WinXP) out to the hangar today and plugged in the EFIS. The program found the instrument and the program worked as usual to download settings and upload lists. So, the problem appears to be with the new computer running Windows 7, not with the wiring. Wiring is OK. Now...

The Yellow Screen of Death ...

As a follow-up, I went to the hangar tonight and flipped on the master switch and ... the EFIS powered-up just fine. Before I suspect wiring issues (it's been just fine with my other laptop), I'll try hooking up the old laptop and see if they can talk to each other. If so, then the issue is...

The Yellow Screen of Death ...

Thanks, Etienne. I'm hoping to hear from Dyon on this as well, naturally. I'll probably pop out to the hangar tonight and flip the master switch to see if everything boots up OK. Since I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had this happen, I'll be sure to post what happens.

The Yellow Screen of Death ...

"Houston, we have a problem ..." Once I downloaded the required software so that my new laptop (with Windows 7) would recognize my serial-USB converter cable, I decided to save the parameters that I've so painstakingly setup during my Phase I test period. I ran the Dynon program, plugged in...

    No wind indication

Yes, I have the OAT sensor and I get proper readings from it. What do you mean, "selected properly"? I have the OAT info selected in the upper left part of the screen, next to the altitude tape.

    No wind indication

The wind indicator is turned ON. However, there's no little arrow on the display. I have a Dynon AOA pitot tube hooked up and the D100 is wired to a Garmin GPSMap 396. Everything else seems to work just dandy. What else should I check?

    No wind indication

D'oh. Thanks. Since I don't know anything about how to properly use heading bugs, I'll just turn it off. Thanks for telling me what it was. I'll check to see if I have the wind indicator turned on. If I do and still don't have any indicator, I'll be back ...

    No wind indication

I, too, have no wind indicator on my display and have it wired to a Garmin 396. Now, admittedly, I might not have it selected in the menu at this time -- I thought I did. I'll have to double-check that when I go to the hangar. However, in place of the wind indicator, the readout in the lower...

Serial-USB cable driver for Windows 7?

Thanks! Apparently that's what I needed. At least it's now in the archives for the next person with Windows 7 ...

Serial-USB cable driver for Windows 7?

My new laptop has Windows 7 and it can't find a driver when I plug it in. Any clue where I find a driver for it so that I can connect to my Dynon units? I couldn't find anything in the archives about Windows 7.
