Guide for creating custom sensor definitions

Am I correct in thinking http://wiki.dynonavionics.com/ has been replaced by https://dynon.zendesk.com/ I logged in at https://dynon.zendesk.com/ and found a category "Advanced SkyView Customization Articles" where there is "Making your own custom EMS sensor definitions"

Static port - is this installed correctly?

Oh, maybe he’s got some tank sealant, it works long after expiration. One can mix a little and see if it sets up. His RV-6 may have the rivet for a static port which was shown in the plans. Same rivet they used to attach the rubber baffles to the aluminum baffles. Smaller diameter than what you...

Static port - is this installed correctly?

It’s wrong and it makes a difference. It’s creating turbulence over the static port. The video you posted is of course the correct way. It would be convenient to use RTV unless you have tank sealant available, that’s what I would do anyway, skuff the surfaces apply RTV, fixture somehow for a few...

    Dim Out failure mode? SPOF?

Thanks Rhino, I had to remind myself that the Skyview Dim Output is open collector PWM to ground. It took some studying for me to understand how the IFD440 dimming works. https://pilotsupport.avidyne.com/kb/article/99-ifd-dimming-setup-tutorial/ Maybe the Dynon Skyview, IFD440, and GMA245...

    Installation Monkworkz Aux Alternator

Monkworkz MZ-30L has an output called Prorortional Current that can go to a Skyview EMS General Purpose input. Skyview EMS supports only one current shunt.

    Dim Out failure mode? SPOF?

Dim Out… I’m wondering what happens if it is used to control screen brightness and backlighting on other devices… is this an SPOF that could make everything go dark? Maybe better to think in terms of partial panel operations and independent brightness controls.

    Resistors

What are the values of the resistors? Which items were they packaged/kitted with?

HDX and SV-COM-T25 audio summing resistors

Thanks Rhino, I understand what you're saying about equalization. I don't understand when you say T25 output is not variable... there's a volume knob on SV-COM-PANEL. That's OK, I decided to KISS and not use the GMA 245 failsafe alert input that shorts to com 1 audio in failsafe mode. Now I...

HDX and SV-COM-T25 audio summing resistors

The audio panel I am installing, GMA 245, has inputs for audio alerts and for failsafe audio alerts. The failsafe audio alert input shorts to com 1 audio when in failsafe which is power off or audio panel failure. Garmin mentions using "summing resistors" in series with the com and alert audio...

AP disconnect / CWS buttons for pilot and copilot

Thanks Marc, I think you are correct. When I made the schematic of post #1 I must have been thinking a button press gets communicated back to Skyview which would then affect both servos, pitch and roll... incorrect assumption on my part. Attached is a jpg of my revised schematic.

AP disconnect / CWS buttons for pilot and copilot

AP disconnect buttons on pilot and copilot sticks… does anyone know… does it make sense to connect one AP disconnect / CWS button to the pitch servo and another to the roll servo? Or should the two buttons be connected in parallel and to both servos? Attached is a jpg of my schematic which I’m...

    HDX Display Power Input Question

Bottom line: The wires are not the current limiting factor, it's the D connector's pins. Could be conservative from a current standpoint when Dynon uses two pins for power and ground to Skyview Display but no second-guessing the Dynon install manual. Bob Nuckolls teaches us to use lengths of...

    GPS175 Power Pins

I see folks in this thread are referencing two different Garmin installation manuals... 190-02207-A1 rev2 (AML STC) and 190-02207-00 rev2 (TSO). I have both if you send me a message on this forum. A bottom line about the two power pins is that both IMs say "All power leads and ground leads are...

    Circuit breakers

I'm with Bob Nuckolls re using fuses instead of breakers. I would add space for more switches and/or breakers than you think you will need but for me fuses are in Bussmann 15600 fuse panels behind the instrument panel. My setup: The AP servos get a 5A pullable breaker that feeds them both...

    Transponder: TNC. ADSB/Radio: BNC. Why?

I imagine it's because the transponder is in what is referred to as the microwave frequency range of 300 MHz to 300 GHz and as Wikipedia says: TNC "has better performance than the BNC connector at microwave frequencies". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TNC_connector BTW, these connectors were...

D37 Pin 26 Dimmer - does it work?

You don't need the Ray Allen trim indicator because Skyview shows trim position if you have the EMS module. SkyView (except the SE version) and GPS 175 have auto dimming. If auto dimming works well you don't need a separate dimmer knob. Have you tried the auto dimming feature? GPS 175 wants a...
