Electric trim: Request help to diagnose failure

Just an update. Installed a Trim Relay Board connected to the 15 pin D-Sub that normally feeds the SV-AP-PANEL. Happy to report that both stick buttons operate the servo-motor in the back. I now have a temporary fix to the failed pitch trim. Of course, no Auto-Trim and no 5 second protection...

Electric trim: Request help to diagnose failure

Thank you Jake for the diagram. Today I can really confirm that all related wiring from the 15 pin connector to the servo and respective stick switches is sound. I jumped connector #9 (12v) to #7 (motor) I jumped connector #3 (pilot nose up) to #8 (motor) No movement as expected. Then the Nose...

Electric trim: Request help to diagnose failure

The connectors #'s I referred to above are those from the 15 pin to the AP-PANEL. Disconnected, I then have access to 12v power, the servo and both switch wires.

Electric trim: Request help to diagnose failure

OK, thanks for the reminder. If I read correctly, the Infinity hat-switch can handle up to 6 A. Knowing that the Ray Allen servo pulls about 800ma, to further test the hat-switches, I could jump connector #9 (+12v) to, say #7 (motor) then jump #3 (pilot up) to #8 (motor). Nothing should move...

Electric trim: Request help to diagnose failure

Thanks Jake, I'm confident I'll manage. If lost, I'll come back to you. I ordered a trim relay and it has a pretty straightforward wiring diagram. Should get it in a couple of weeks. I will disconnect the 15 pin connector and insert D-Sub male pins in it to connect power, servo and hat-switch...

Electric trim: Request help to diagnose failure

Yes, I thought about wiring a separate circuit to by-pass the a/p panel. Guess I could temporarily use the 15 pin connector to power a proper relay and connect the servo and pilot switch. I know that the wiring to the 15 pin connector all checks OK...

Electric trim: Request help to diagnose failure

Yes, that would be prudent, thank you for the suggestion. For now, no immediate or close-by candidates available to test my A/P PANEL in their airplane. I have a buddy that has a A/P PANEL installed but with manual trim... He's an hour away, flight time. As I'm pretty confident that all my hard...

Electric trim: Request help to diagnose failure

Searched the forum but didn't find much help. Link me if something is relevant. Probing the collective minds here for suggestions. During pre-flight, 19 times out of 20 I check the electric trim's operation. It always worked. Last Sunday was one of those, "naw, it worked perfectly last time"...

ARCINC-429 with GP175 not use serial port?

Thanks, Yes, after consideration I will install 2 ARINC for redundancy.

    Foreflight holding pattern to Skyview

Recently, fooling around on a VFR flight, I created a holding pattern at a waypoint part of a routing in Foreflight and pushed it to Skyview while Autopilot engaged. The holding pattern appeared correctly on the Skyview map and the Autopilot executed perfectly the Offset entry and the first...

ARCINC-429 with GP175 not use serial port?

Interesting topic, I'm considering installing a GPS 175 connected through ARINC to Skyview which seems simple enough. What about connecting a second GPS 175? (for redundancy, ie: Canadian IFR equipment regs) Can it be connected to the same ARINC using the RX 2 A/B pins 22 & 10 and TX A/B pins 24...

    New Airmate aviation data

Does anyone at Dynon or other know why Nav Canada seem to not allow their charts to be available on Airmate? There are 195 countries on earth, (Airmate claim providing charts for over 200 countries ;-) ), and most of them, if not all, available except Canada... It's very frustrating having a...

Autopilot Rolls Into Turns Like A Fighter Pilot

Currently running 16.2.4 and I also have the sharp roll when in NAV mode but not at all waypoints. Considering updating to 16.3.2 and wondering if a fix for that behaviour is included or not?

Update for Canada: US and West EU or other?

Thanks, so I'll then continue using "Method 2: Individual SkyView Files and Detailed Updating Procedures" and the PocketFMS data. I was just curious of what are the differences, if any, in the software for the HDX, (i.e. 16.3.2) between the US & EU package and the method 2 data.

Update for Canada: US and West EU or other?

Hi, does anyone now if the "US and Western Europe only" software updates includes data usable for canadian based aircraft, or should I dowload the version for the "rest of the world"? Does the "rest of the world" database include USA? As I plan to fly occasionnaly to the USA, I hope to have the...

Trim with SV-AP-PANEL vs VP-X sanity check

Thanks Raymo for your suggestion, is that something you did? With a DPDT switch? I feel ok with the bypass if the AP Panel fails, I prefer a simple setup. If all fails, well I guess I'll fly without the trim and land ASAP...

Trim with SV-AP-PANEL vs VP-X sanity check

Hi all, I'm almost finished wiring a RV-8. Skyview HDX, pitch and roll servos, Ray Allen Pitch Trim. Sanity check for me concerning Trim wiring. Not having at that time received the Dynon Skyview goodies, I initially connected the Ray Allen Pitch Trim 5 wires and the trim switches to VP-X as...
