Im putting a HDX on a 1959 Pilatus P3 and was wondering if it is possible to use the 24V feed from the flap position potentiometer?

Yes. Page 7-67 of the latest Skyview Installation Manual (Revision AL).

Well, After removing the 1950 potentiometer, it is very apparent that the overly complicated unit will not work. It should have been a hint that the sender had 5 wires connecting to it. It send info via three phase.

Yes, but will require a little bit of time and a few bucks. The easiest way is to get s simple step down 24v to 5v regulator. Something like this will work. https://www.pololu.com/product/2831

The five wire system normally is this. The two white wires are the flap motor. The remaining three wires are white/blue, white/green, and white/orange. White/Orange wire will come off the 5v regulator output, white/blue wire will go to ground, and the white/green wire will go to your flap position input on the SkyView EMS module. Program the pin for the flaps, and then do your flap calibration.

If it is just a simple pot, one side of the pot would be the white/orange, the other side would be white/blue and go to ground, and the center would be the white/green and go to the SkyView EMS.

Easy.
