On the GNS-430, I understand that the AIRINC settings are suppose to be:

           speed           data
In 1           High            EFIS\Airdata
In 2           High             Off
Out            Low              GAMA 42

HOWEVER, I cannot highlight the "EFIS\Airdata" on the Garmin setting screen.  It is there, but in a light colored blue that does not allow me to select it.  I have a current Garmin base software.

Any ideas?  Tim

The avionics shop update the firmware to the latest software, this was only six months ago.

As I go through the menu, EFIS and EFIF/AIRDATA are on the menu, but I canon select or highlight as an option.  They are depicted a in light color blue, not a solid blue

The HSI data is working, except the RMI pointer will not function, and the GS is not functioning on the HSI or EFIS.

I did purchase one of the original GNS-430.  Tim

I would start by contacting Garmin and ask why the menu option is not selectable on your unit. Dynon won't be able to help you with that.

I agree- Garmin support (or your Avionics shop) is the one for that question. We've never heard of someone not being able to select that option, and we have hundreds if not thousands of 430 installs.

My only guess would be that there are multiple ARINC ports and for some reason Garmin only lets you make one of them do a format at a time, so you can't have EFIS/Airdata on two ports at the same time.

Well, I have always liked being special!!

I did have a brief conversation with an avioincs tech.  I was not able to play with the 430, and implement his advice.

According to him, the GNS-430 is like a PC, you need to tell it what "Drivers" you would like to install. I need to go into the RS232 GNS-430 setup menu, and allow it to recognize the EFIS/AIRDATA option.   Then go back to the AIRINC menu and I will then be able to highlight (load) the EFIS/AIRDATA feature.

I will keep the group amused.  Tim

Interesting. I can't compare, because the 480 was "not invented by Garmin" - but do know for example that certain output options on the 480 are not available on all output ports. Seems dumb to me but they doubtless had their reasons.

Good luck!
