7" display font size, and battery backup

after installing my 7" displays, I noticed the font size for pretty much everything is a tad too small.  when sitting in the seat of the plane, my eye balls are 32" from the panel.  I didn't think it was too small when playing with it on the work bench,  (eye ball distance 22")

one size bigger would probably make all the difference.
also if there is a way to sharpen the text, that would probably do it too.

regarding the backup battery,   while it is in use, could you add a "backup battery time left" or "voltage remaining" readout?

I'll be doing some gliding, and plan on just using the backup batteries, with engine and main battery powered off.

I would have to agree with your concerns with regard to the font size and its clarity . The EFIS D100 which I removed is far superior and am amazed that the Skyview 7" visual font presentation is not up to expectation.
AIRSPEED NAV ALTITUDE SLIP BALL BAROMETER readings ETC ETC need to be significantly sharpened and increased in size.

Yes---please give us the ability to increase font via the setup menus---this way you can keep commonality between the small and big displays----and still give us small display people a way to better use this device. Had I known this from the start, I would have shelled out the extra 1000 bucks for the bigger display.

We are hoping to do a lot of work to make things bigger and more visible where we can in the future, but we can't just let you up the font size, or things run into each other all over the system. Making the tradeoff between larger fonts (which everyone wants) and more information on the screen at the same time (which everyone wants) is a tough job.

But if I can't read the text----it does not matter how much information is there if I can't read it. However---I know what you mean----same config for both screens----those who have bigger screens want more stuff. Of note----in the big screen mode---you have plenty of room---even for the small display.

You could make various blocks of test font size variable and selectable. Those with the big displays would not have to touch it. Those with the small displays would need to figure out what was more important----then up the size in some areas----and turn off text in others.

On the map----I see no issue with having user selectable font size. Bigger size on the smaller display would not hinder anything.

One that really stands out is ground speed on take off not so much of a problem on a smooth take off surface, but when enviroments are not quite so ideal and yoiu are bouncing here and there and at the same time attempting to focus on a gound speed reading it can become a bit trying.
Perhaps when airspeed drops below a certain level prior to landing, stalling or at take off fonts could be programmed to increase in size :-/

With the 10 inch display I don't have a lot of complaints. The text next to the HSI is a bit tiny but not important for flight. Same with DA, TAS, GS, etc. This is secondary information as compared to air speed and altitude. I expect that Dynon will tackle a fine tuning of the display some time in the future to address some of the short comings discussed here. The overall design is exceptionally pleasing as compared to other utilitarian EFIS displays. I wouldn't want to see that messed up.

What may help are subtle visual signs. The flight path marker is a good example. It shows horizontal and vertical drift at a glance. That and the compass along the zero pitch line gives you a sense of attitude and direction from one indicator. For most of my VFR flying I randomly follow the purple line on the GPS map so I could do without the HSI. There also is a compass on the map should I need to follow a vector. I wouldn't mind seeing the EMS in place of the HSI so that I could get a 50% map and 30% PFD/20% EMS on the other 50% of the screen. The 40/40/20 works well also.

If you think the text next to the HSI on the 10 inch display is a bit tiny---try scaling it down 20%. Agree, not important for flight---but can't read---do I have GPS selected or NAV1?

NAV is green and GPS is magenta. I think my GPS495 is a different color then the Dynon GPS when I'm using both for navigation. Subtle but effective. Same with the EMS. I don't much care what the numbers are. As long as it's in the green.

The solution I've seen with the small screen on the GPS495 is to mount it closer. There is a plethora of mounts available. Perhaps mounting the SV forward of the panel isn't out of the question. Who said that all the switches and gauges have to mounted on a flat panel across the front just a bit too far away to see the numbers.

In my case mounting screens closer is not practical especially when the setup I had previously ie  EMS D10    EFIS D100 was OK. Dynon have a bit of work to do in this department and Im sure they will sort it out. In the mean time positoning one head to read differing text formats on screen is the go and sun gleer adds to the problem
