When I engage the altitude part of the A/P, is always flies 40' higher than target. For instance, if I select 3000' and engage the A/P, it will level out at 3040' and fly there. It is irrespective of altitude, always 40' over target. Any ideas what I can do??

Nope, we're stumped. We have over 1,000 SkyView installs with the AP, and this is the first we've heard of this. I just flew SkyView with the AP a few days ago and it holds right on the altitude.
First things first, you have the bug up on the altitude tape, and you are saying that when the AP is level (and has been for a minute or more) that the bug is 40' away from the actual altitude?
The only other thing I can think of to check is your altitude adjust. Do you have an adjustment for the altimeter in the PFD setup menu? Just trying to figure out where the software bug is.

Can you send us a datalog for us to take a look at of when the system is in this state? The option to save it off to a USB drive is in the SETUP > SYSTEM SOFTWARE menu. Note that the files are pretty big - you'll need to use a free website like rapidshare to upload it so that we can grab it.
One thin you can try - increase ALT GAIN. It maybe help some, provided it can be increased without hurting level of performance.

I just got back from Oshkosh, first long trip with the skyview. My AP settled in at 20 ft above the altitude setpoint and stayed there. Setting was 9500 and altitude displayed 9520 all the way up. Coming back the setting was 10500 and the altitude displayed 10520 the entire trip back. Although this is a small amount, I was wondering if the previous poster was able to correct his 30-40 foot difference. If so what was his solution.
By the way the skyview performed flawlessly for the 600 NM trip up and back. Anxious for more robust mapping that I know will be coming.

I have not had any luck in resolving this issue. I tried changing the A/P settings, and I did take a datalog file last time I was up. I am just not having any luck uploading it to rapidshare. My home connection might be too slow. Maybe I'll try uploading from work tomorrow.

Our main AP engineer is out until next week, so we'll take a look at the log then. In the mean time, what settings did you change, and from what and to what?

You can try to keep increasing the alt gain if you're not experiencing any adverse effects.

Glad 3.3 made a difference for you, but we didn't actually change the code to fix this. We're aware of the issue and the for-sure fix is being tested right now, so it will be released in the next version.

So maybe I did speak too soon. On my way back the next day it seemed to be back off about 40' high. Not sure why it appeared to work on Sunday....guessing operator error as that was the first time it seemed to hold proper altitude. Monday was pretty turbulent and it was back to ~40' off again. I thought/was hoping 3.3 had the fix. More to come I'm sure...
