I am installing an ACK E-04 406 ELT.  It will accept GPS position from external sources as follows:

"THE MODEL E-04 ELT WILL INTERFACE AND RECOGNIZE EIA STANDARD RS 232 DATAnFROM NEMA 0183 SOURCES AT 1200, 2400, 4800, AND 9600 BAUD. GARMIN AVIATION FORMAT DATA AT 9600 BAUD, AND BENDIX/KING AVIATION FORMAT DATA AT 9600
BAUD."

Beyond Icrarus it is not clear in the installation manual what output formats are available.

Will the skyview with the GPS 250 output in one of these formats?
Thank you

Russ,

Skyview does not yet output that kind of data except for the transponder output. But one of the upgrades in the future is planned to have NMEA data output.

I don't know what the timeframe of that update will be, but I do know that it is coming.

Rich is correct. SkyView does not currently output NMEA output, we we plan to add that in the future.

I appreciate your very full bucket of things to do, but like so many, you leave me hanging. Do I buy a dedicated GPS for the ELT or wire it to the Skyview. Is Nema in the next release or is it years away. It really would help if a clearer path forward was provided.

It's honestly somewhere in between the two, but isn't firmly scheduled yet. It's definitely not in the March 3.0 release, and smaller features like that don't get planned in or out of a release until we're into full-on planning mode. Sorry we can't be more helpful here, but we don't want to give you an expectation that isn't grounded in a concrete decision.

Let me make sure I understand your reply. The "big" pay to update release in March 2011 will have Nema out on the RS-232 data ports, but the non-pay upgrades are not yet scheduled. This works for me as I plan to buy the big one.

Thank you

Sorry, I missed a critical word in my response ("not", now bolded above for emphasis). NMEA out is not yet scheduled. It will not be in the 3.0 update.
