In our SV system we are seeing a difference from the DG heading and the GPS (2 sources) of 5-10 degrees on some headings. Our ADAHRS is mounted behind the seats on the pilot side near the fuselage side. I was wondering if when we re calibrate on the compass rose we should try and line up the left side of the fuselage with the cardinal headings instead of lining up the nose ... thoughts?

When is it different? If you're in flight, GPS and heading WILL BE DIFFERENT whenever there's wind. Heading is the direction the aircraft is pointed, while GPS only knows the track you're making over the ground. While you're taxiing around on the ground (you HAVE to be moving in a straight line, otherwirse GPS isn't giving you a good number), the similarities and differences between GPS and heading will tell you a better story.

To first order, though, you should align with a compass rose at a known good location to discover how good or bad your base heading performance is.
