Adding fuel

We've encountered a problem when adding fuel to our sportcruiser ( has resistive type fuel sensors).

The right tank had 10 liters, we added 20 and it indicated 20 liters until in flight it eventually started counting down. The left tank was normal in all regards.

Please can you confirm when I add fuel to the tanks should the EMS be on or off? Does this affect the ability of the EMS to know how much fuel is in the tanks?

Thanks

We do not have a fuel flow valve in the aircraft.  I don't really understand the " ADD THRESHOLD" funtion. Should I have set this up? - I have not done so yet. Without it set up will the EMS be able to tell when I have added fuel to the tanks with the EMS switched off?

The fuel tank quantity senders don't care if the power is on or off while you're fueling. For most people it'll be off since they fully power down the aircraft while refueling.

The add threshold lets the EMS know how much positive fuel change it needs to see (after a fill up) before it prompts with a reminder to reset your fuel computer, which relies entirely on your input about the aircraft's initial fuel state (and then uses the fuel flow sensor to give you ongoing information throughout that tank).
