Hi. I recently had the GPS 2020 installed and on the Transponder set-up page it says everything is in order and compliant. I have taken 3 flights since install over last three weeks. Neither the FAA (I emailed the suggested email address to verify my 2020 compliance) nor Flightaware have any data for me yet. Is this normal? When should I expect the FAA to be able to confirm my compliance? Are there any other ways for me to check everything is working properly?

Where have you taken your flights? The compliance report only works if you flew in a terminal radar environment. If the FAA has that, they generally get right back to you.

Technically, if the compliance monitor in SkyView says it's working, and your last transponder check was good, then you are compliant. The FAA check is just a nice to have, but it carries no legal weight.

Careful what you say about compliant. My SV says I am compliant but the FAA says I am not. Working with Tech Support I have been informed that the is a software issue on the Trig side which affects some folks. They know what is and it will be corrected in v14.1.xxx.

The FAA report normally takes about two days (working Days)

Hi thanks for the response. I have flown under the Boston Class B a couple times so would think that would be more than sufficient. Will ping the FAA again a couple days after the next flight.

Another related question for you. On a flight before I switched from the GPS 250 to the GPS 2020, I noticed on my Skyview map display a Cirrus in the pattern whose N number I could see on my display. Can you tell me what causes that (is that his ADS-B out?, is it TIS?, etc) and possible reasons why I have not seen that for any other planes before or after that day. Note-- I have the Dynon SV-470 unit installed in case that is important to the answer. Also note I was on Skyview 11 at that time and now am on V14. Thanks alot.

You will only see the N number for aircraft that are ADS-B OUT. This is only about 7% of aircraft right now, and most of those are experimentals...
