Can Dynon support help with this? The Aerodrome Traffic Zones (ATZ) are supposed to be in the PocketFMS data set but not displaying on the Skyview map.

PFMS-Dynon
I use easy vfr for flight planning and Dynon Skyview with the pocketfms dataset in flight. Aerodrome Traffic Zones (ATZ) are displayed in easy vfr but they don't display on the Dynon Skyview. Should the ATZs display on Skyview, perhaps I have something wrong in the settings?

(reply from PocketFMS)

Basically, we put everything we know into a Dataset. What is displayed on the SkyView and how it is displayed is 100% up to Dynon I’m afraid. Not sure if the Dynon settings allow for the hiding of certain airspace types & classes? Sadly we don’t fly with Dynon ourselves, so I’m not very savvy of the operation of one . . Dynon support might be able to help you further?

I also posted about this on the PocketFMS forum last week. It's not just ATZs that are omitted. A lot of other info is too.

Here are some screen shots comparing Dynon Skyview PocketFMS data with the PocketFMS data that is actually availabe (Their EasyVFR app).

This shows the missing ATZ. Entering these without permission is considered an airspace infringement.

Zoomed in, airport names are not shown on Dynon only the ICAO code.

The response from PocketFMS was as follows:

"Steve, I'm not sure about displaying airport names on the SkyView, but I imagine there is a setting for that. Someone more familiar with SkyView might be able to help with that one.

The SkyView airspace data model is based on the US system (US company!) and conforms to an international aviation standard (ARINC-424). The types it supports are listed below and are quite limited compared to PocketFMS. Anything else is ignored in the translation from our data to theirs.

ARINC-424 classes:
Class C Airspace (Was ARSA within the USA).
Control Area, ICAO Designation (CTA).
Terminal Control Area, ICAO Designation (TMA or TCA).
Radar Zone or Radar Area (Was TRSA within the USA).
Class B Airspace (Was TCA with the USA).
Class D Airspace within the USA, Control Zone, ICAO Designation (CTR).
Alert
Caution
Danger
Military Operations Area
Prohibited
Restricted
Training
Warning
Unspecified or Unknown

This problem exists for other airspace types which are specific to particular non-US countries. Last year we were able to convince Dynon to accept some of these in their CAUTION category, but they are naturally very wary about shoving too much under such a generic label.

So, it's essentially a Dynon issue and I think it would be a major undertaking for them to expand their data model to accommodate additional airspace types, other than including them in some similar airspace type that SkyView does recognize, but you could ask them.

Cheers,

Ron"

OK, thanks, It seems we can't display the ATZs unless Dynon can find a way to do it. The ATZs we are interested in are in class G airspace so don't fit any controlled airspace class. Perhaps they could fit under "unspecified or unknown"

Does anyone here use Jeppeson's data in the UK (European dataset)?

If so may I confirm they can see UK ATZs on Sykview?

thanks
