Hi Dynon staff
You will find enclosed mail I sent to Pocket FMS december the 10th. For the time being I have not received any answer.
I'm very desappointed about what we get following P FMS subscription.
I would like to have your opnion about such a pour situation. Some european competitors are doing much better.
Have a nice new year eve.

Hello
First of all I subscribed to Easy VFR for 2 main purpuses:
- a way to prepare flight abroad
- to get data including airfields plates for my double Dynon SkyView

So I'm going to explain troubles or expectations for each purpuse.
My previous mail was mainly Easy VFR for PC oriented.

On Easy VFR PC
I click on airfield circle on map to get pop up windows on display left side
I click on airfields OACI code and on "airfield info"
Spain
LEMG LEAM LESB LEBL LEVT LEMC LEZL: I get a list of pages (number depends on airfield: 1 to 12) and I clik on one page and get a beutiful white page
LERJ: I get a pop up message "Are you sure to delete........."
LEBB: I get an approch plates and nothing more
Portugal
LPPR LPVR LPCS LPFR: I get a list of pages (number depends on airfield: 1 to 12) and I clik on one page and get a beutiful white page
LPIN: nothing
Italy
LIER LIMC LIML LIPZ: I get a list of pages (number depends on airfield: 1 to 12) and I clik on one page and get a beutiful white page
Please have a look at LIPZ and tell me if those informations are enough to land safely there

Danemark, Sweden, Slovakia, etc.... data are so pour. Only France and UK are realy usable

On Skyview
I did some test on Skyview with the FMS airfield data stick connected
I got much less beautiful white pages, but not a lot approch plates or airfields plates. I got mainly textual pages, for sure very interesting, but they don't hlep us approching and landing on airfield.
So it propably means that white pages are mainly those textual informations
Please you have to improve the data supplied by delivring at least approch plate and airfield plate for each airfield. Some of your competitor supply much more data for those countries.
I don't no if Dynon check what you are able to supply within subscription but I will be interesting to have their opignion.
From an other hand, I hope aeronoticals data are much reliable.

Sorry for so long mail, but it's very important to trust in data we are using

Best regards

Hi Bernhard,

As I mailed you earlier, we will investigate this and we do like to be thorough. The examples you mentioned to us (thanks for those) do seem to work fine here, so it indicates to be a local problem - which we have only recently been able to reproduce on one of our systems after a fresh OS install. The issue seems to be in PDF displaying.

The plates *are* present (as you will see when you press the [EasyPrint] button), but they are displayed as a white page and we're looking for the reason for that. Not as an excuse, but EasyVFR for Windows *is* a Beta product at this time, and though well tested before release, a Beta software can (and usually will!) have flaws.

You are very right when you state "it's very important to trust in the data we're using". I'm happy to report that we here at PocketFMS feel the exact same way, and we have been feeling that way over 10 years now. I'll never say we don't make mistakes, but I can assure you we're serious where it comes to data quality! We wouldn't have lasted 10 years otherwise . .

We *are* investigating the issue, and I *will* report back to you per email!

Hi Nosegear

I notice that EasyVFR Aero Data effective dates for Europe are still showing 14 Nov 13 - 11 Dec 13.

This brings up a 'Charts out of date' message on the SkyView screen map page.

I have the latest EasyVFR 3.10.1 software.

Is it me?

Hi Aerofurb,

I take it that this is on the start up screen? It's shown in red to indicate that it's outdated and needs to be updated. We don't automatically start the update, because you might now want to start the download at that point. eg roaming data, or just want to check something, or perhaps not interested in aerodata for that region (different regions have different cycle times.

To update the data, when you are on that screen, tap the "Download data button". This brings you to a download screen where you can update that aerodata or download new maps. On this screen tap the "aerodata" button.

There is a full tutorial with screen shots taking you through the update procedure screen by screen here

edit: As this is my first post, I'm not allowed to post a web address to the page, so I'll just have to describe how to get to it!
Go to the PocketFMS website (PocketFMS dot com). Click on the EasyVFR logo near the bottom centre of the page. On the left hand side click "Tutorials and videos".
Scroll down about half way and you'll find a tutorial marked "Update your AeroData". That's the one that you need.

I hope that helps, but if you need any more help, just ask!

There are more tutorials on using the different features on this page which you might find handy.

By the way, as of today, you can file electronic flight plans in EasyVFR too!

Hi Colm

Many thanks for your reply. I emailed Rob at PocketFMS and he gave me the correct steer -as you have.

I'm too used to the PocketFMS updates and hadn't sussed that of course I'm effectively looking at an App and have to download the new data set to get a new effective date.

Tried it all last night and all is good.

Many thanks for taking the time to help. I was right - it was me!

:)

A little follow-up on this 'blank pages' matter: it seems that, as suspected initially, there's an issue with the internal PDF viewer that may or may not launch correctly, depending on a variety of circumstances. While we're of course looking further to find out if this can be programmatically solved, an in-between solution that cured the issue on our test systems was to install Adobe Reader and restart EasyVFR for Windows. The plates will then show correctly!
