I know that airspeed is important in the algorithm, and that is why there is GPS failover if the pitot airspeed goes away. But, what happens in a 0 airspeed situation, i.e. helicopter hovering? How does the presence of a 0 airspeed value work in the algorithm?

Accurate airspeed is important, and as long as zero is the correct airspeed, it will work fine. This is why our units work perfect in your hand- they read zero and zero is accurate for that environment.

They work well in a helicopter from what we have been told.
