I am considering using one of the D180 general purpose inputs and connecting it to the alternator "L" (lamp) circuit, which I understand is the alternator terminal that goes to ground when the alternator fails (or at least loses output). I am wondering if anyone has done this in the past, because frankly I don't know for sure that terminal actually "does" go to ground. I've seen conflicting info and am not set up to test it.
Has anyone gone before me on this?
