Altitude Frozen at 33,000 ft.

In flight yesterday I was surprised to see my airspeed at 250 kts, the horizon acting lazily unstable, and even more surprising my altitude at 33,250 ft. Surprising because I was at 2000 ft and 130 kts. I figure the EFIS calculates TAS using altitude and IAS, so the problem I’ve got seems to be only the altitude the EFIS thinks its at. I powered the EFIS off and on a couple of times with no change. On the ground I disconnected the static port and checked for water or other stuff but nothing seen out of the ordinary. I puffed in and out of the tubing and saw a reaction on the mechanical altimeter and VSI, but no reaction on the EFIS. I’m suspecting the EFIS is somehow electronically fried. We’ve had a LOT of rain this month so maybe water has been dripping around the unit and the connector has corroded(?) so I’m going to pull it and work it around the socket a little bit. If that doesn’t work I may reload the latest software update. Beyond that I’m stuck for ideas. Anybody think of anything else I should try? All ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I should have said my unit is the D10A and Remote Compass. Software updated to 5.1.1 in July/09.

If you're getting no reaction on the EFIS and plumbing is verified correct, the the unit most likely needs to be returned for inspection/repair. Please contact our tech support for an RMA #.

Thanks for the response. I have done the "wiggle the connector" and reload the software approaches but nothing changed. I'll contact your tech support folks. Thanks again.

Last post on this - I returned the unit to Dynon where it was repaired in about a week. Frozen altitude fixed. Horizon is still slightly lazy but better than before. Magnetic heading tape is perfect now. Thanks Dynon!
