Altitude wrong, no VS menu item on left joystick

I just got back from riding in a friend's new RV-12 and noticed a couple of odd things.

First, when he dialed in the current altimeter setting, the displayed altitude was more than 200' higher than the field elevation.

Second, while using the simplified autopilot settings, the vertical speed correctly defaulted to 500 fpm climb, but there was no VS menu item to set it to lower, and touching the VS indicator on the touch screen did not select it either.

Hints on where to look for solutions to these would be appreciated.

The first issue can be calibrated out using the ALTITUDE OFFSET feature under SETUP > HARDWARE CALIBRATION. If it changes from flight to flight though, there might be an issue with the altimeter sensor in the ADAHRS.

For VS, check whether VS bug is turned on under PFD>BUGS.
