Ammeter wonky indication.

Odd behaviour on todays flight. My ammeter, with the shunt in series with the alternator, was reading negative current and was erratic. Switching off loads increased the magnitude of the negative indication.

Voltage was rock solid at 14.3 V.

After a two hour layover, everything was normal.

I suspect a faulty connection under the hood, but i am curious if this problem has been seen before.

I've found that to be a connection issue so I use star washers under the screws & make sure the terminals are AMP brand ( they seem to work best) IMO.

Thanks Jake. That's my guess as well. A whole lot of shaking going on with my IO540. Not as smooth as I would like. Prop is balanced but I wonder if the prop indexing is optimal
