Has anyone installed AOA option in a V35? If so, curious about how to run the AOA line?

Thanks,
Steve

You'd only install that if you have our AOA/Pitot installed. Else, just leave it capped. Note that in a certified aircraft, you do need to keep the factory pitot for IAS. In this application, the Dynon probe is ONLY used for AOA.

Dear Dynon,

Could you please give us some background on why the factory pitot was retained for the AML? Is there any move to remove that restriction, or is it just too cumbersome given the 600 aircraft on the AML?

Thanks!

That's the short version. The slightly longer one is that the pitot is a prime part of the IAS-sensing system of the aircraft, and altering anything, from probe design, specific location, etc could affect the way it senses airspeed. And there are many different pitot probes, locations, etc that we'd have to study to make the case that we can replace them.

Ironically, we are likely "better" at sensing than a lot of legacy pitots, but your POH/AFMS has numbers that assume factory CAS/IAS errors and anomalies, which one would need to refactor if the pitot were replaced with one that behaved differently (or as I'd suspect, better)
