AOA location on PFD

Would like to reposition my AOA readout on the PFD. Want to move it up as high as it will go so I do not have to look so far down! Looked in manual and only see where we can change the EMS outputs - do not see anything similar for PFD.

Is there a way to relocate the AOA output?

Thanks

There isn't. Items on the PFD is pretty carefully arranged - just to get everything fit reasonably. We also have a bit of a philosophy about keeping the PFD consistent among the "fleet", but that's not the primary driver.

Then a suggestion is to consider moving it up into the upper left hand corner of the PFD. I know real estate is precious but where it is now, it is overlaid on a background that makes it harder to read as well as being too low. Trying to locate the AOA when over the numbers is a bit difficult with the present location.

The upper left area seems to have some available space.

Thanks for the reply.

Emidio,

If I may make a suggestion, when you are over the numbers you should have almost all attention outside the aircraft (in the flare) and work the sight picture to touch down.

The AoA is a great tool to fly the approach and I use it every flight for the approach. But once over the fence/numbers I'm only looking outside.

Note: this is just my opinion and I've not been instructed in AoA use for military landing. If you have training otherwise, please disregard.

I agree with Emidio that the AOA is buried where it is and should be mounted higher. When I was looking at the HUD in Oshkosh, one of the things I wanted to see was an HUD AOA. An AOA that is buried is not too bad if you are flying a two-pilot crew and the PF is on the AOA on take-off and landing, but in a one-pilot operation where there is more demand on your attention, it needs to be easily picked out and interpreted and where it is located is not the best spot for that.

+1

If you are really dependant on knowing the lift reserrve, you need to know it quickly... for most operations (STOL or Aerobatic) you are pretty busy at that time, and it would help if it was a fraction closer to the view outside, closer to your peripheral vision.

A configurable option would be a nice touch.

Both the D100/D10A and the SkyView have audio outputs for AoA that allow you to keep your eyes outside the cockpit while getting AoA information.
