AP Course Intercept Question

I am interested in comments about the following situation.

I have noticed the auto pilot is not smoothly intercepting a VOR radial.  I have been working on using the AP to assist with holding patterns. I find that when I turn back to the inbound leg using the HDG knob and approach the inbound course line at a 30 degree angle with the NAV function armed, the AP does not switch to NAV until crossing the inbound course lin.  This is too late to smoothly intercept with the result that track passes through the course line.  The AP then over corrects when coming back to the line.  I have worked through the AP tuning process for ROLL with no apparent improvement.

My set up is SV1000 with Garmin 430 providing navigation information. in an RV9. I am using Expert Mode and the Knob panel.

Could you provide us with some screen shots of what you're seeing on your SkyView display?

I fly ifr with skyview and previously with a 430 and now with a 750 connected thru the converter. I use the AP control panel.
you failed to mention if your course line was part of an approach. you mention that the autopilot overcorrects. I have not experienced this with my set up. I rarely see an overshoot. Maybe check your tuning. I think it is normal for the auto switching to wait until crossing the FAF.

The situation I referred to did not relate to an approach, simply an unpublished hold.  More generally, an intercept to a VOR radial.

Responding to Dynon support comment, I do not have a screen shot.  Not sure how that would help.  Its not what I am seeing on the screen that is disturbing.  Its how the plane is responding to AP commands.

The screen shot would help us see how the system is configured. The overshoot is not normal, and the system generally does intercept a VOR using an approximate standard rate turn. There is something in the setup / configuration / usage that is causing it to act less than optimally.

Okay, I will get some screen shots and perhaps a video showing the intercept, overshoot and correction. Weather should clear this weekend, so I anticipate getting the material off to you by Monday morning. Would a log file help?
